[ Hasmed saves for himself his memorized spell to teleport without error, which means there's no chance of his own group appearing miles off the mark. they land instead at the edge of the forest, looking out towards the high chain link fence that surrounds the airfield. on the far end of it, outside the fence, a large brick building is positioned against the river. Hasmed mumbles a few words, cloaking the small group in invisibility, which also means they... can't see each other, sorry guys. He at least gave them a moment to note each other's positions before he did it. ]

That would be our destination.

Your voice sounds like butterfly wings. [ with that... compliment?? she ducks inside, quick and quiet (move silently 34), prepared to take on whatever is on the other side. because that's what she was built for, protecting ordinary people.

yeah, she considers everyone else ordinary. oops.

she keeps her eyes peeled and her ears not... quite open. (spot 26, listen 14) ]

Quickly is my middle name! Well, actually, it's Severus, but that's an awful name and it should have been Quickly. [She zips in behind Kali, not quite as quietly but still barely making a whisper, (move silently 23), keeping her eyes wide open as they move (spot 24). Her ears are less wide open, possibly because she's so tense that every sound takes far too long for her to even want to pay attention until it's finished (listen 6).]

[ Wordlessly, Henry steps forward, moving quietly (move silently 16) behind Andie. He's not doing so well with keeping his eyes open (spot 7) and stumbles a bit, missing something in his path. He recovers, but it's a little embarrassing, though (hopefully) makes up for that snafu by listening well (listen 21), alert and ready to spring into action. ]

Sorry about that.

[ He whispers under his breath, just...because he might have nearly toppled into Andie. ]

[Cara is mostly frustrated that she didn't opt to step in and help them. She assumed they'd be better at handling two guards and clearly she'll know to step in next time.

For now, she follows the group making sure to stay alert to her surroundings. (spot nat 20 + 8) (move silently nat 20 + 6) [look I didn't believe it either] but that happened and I just pray those don't mean I have to do more stuff.]

It's cool! It's hard to see! [She grabs his arm again. They can be buddies.]

[ He's not opposed to more buddies, so he just lets her hold onto him as they move carefully, smirking to himself. At least she's good-natured about it. ]

[ henry would hear the clip of boots down the hallway to the left around a corner, and cara would spot shadows moving on the opposite wall there that imply guards are moving this way, at a slow but steady pace. the hallway branches to the right as well, and there's a large iron door down that way, that looks heavily sealed. ]

Someone's coming.

[ He doesn't want to say much, because they don't need to suddenly draw attention to themselves, and his voice is pitched low, but he stops moving, waiting for everyone else so they have a consensus on where to move next. ]

[Cara nods in agreement.]

They're patrolling. [The even pace to the shadows makes her think they're bored or used to routine.]

We should strike now, before they realize that we're here.

[Move Silently 21, Nels slips in with the rest of them, and drops an orb of darkness over the left side of the hallway with the guards. Maybe it will give them enough cover to provide a non-violent solution.]

Oloth... That will buy us some time.

I don't suppose anyone brought a map? [ looking with adorable earnest hope at you, hasmed. ] I'm thinking weapons behind the big door?

[ he nods, and moves towards it, muttering a snake-like incantation that casts a knock spell and unlocks them. the doors swing open, and he heads into the hallway beyond. ] Swiftly.

Still my middle name! [She zips past him, though she doesn't go too far ahead of the group as she searches... though not all that effectively (search 12).]

[ andie really only has to turn the corner up ahead to find something.

something big.

something winged.

something with three heads.

and no, of course they're not nice heads, either. it sports the body of a lion, though a dragon and a horned goat head flank its central leonine one. it has to be ten feet long, with red scales that match those on its dragon head. its eyes are currently closed, and its curled up in front of another set of large doors. :) ]

Nope on out of there and back around the corner (move silently 15 but to be fair LOOK AT THAT THING).]

Giant lion dragon goat thing!!!

[She hisses it out, eyes wide. Knowledge 8...]

Oh, I saw a lion at the zoo! [ so helpful. ] That sounds like an endangered species.

A chimera. [ oh gr8 ] No doubt set to guard the very stores we seek.

What color was the dragon's head, child?

Red. [She takes a breath to steady herself.] Red and terrifying.

What's the plan, then? [He eyes the darkness orb] Because that's only going to buy us so much time.

There's only one way through. [ now that he's used his passwall already ] We have to take down the beast.

[ kali wants to just jump forward and get to it, but chimera triggered her brain to actually think so she pauses a moment. ] What does red mean? And follow up question, is there anything we shouldn't do. Like chopping off a hydra's head is generally considered bad tactics unless you have fire at the ready. Is a chimera like that? Does its dragon head have a breath weapon? Does it have an inexplicably poisonous bite? [ INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW OK. ]

Red means we'll be faced with its fire breath. Beware - any of the three heads can discharge the fire, although no harm will come from taking any of them off. If you get too close, it will likely try to spear you with its horns and tear your flesh with its other heads. And of course, it has terrible claws.

So all we have to do is avoid the horns, claws, mouths, and every other body part! Is the tail safe at least?

None of this is. But we've no time to waste.
