The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[That essentially puts her in her place for the time being, and instead of replying right away, she watches him, trying to get a good read on him (sense motive 37) before finally deciding that she believes him.

She's not sure if that makes it better or worse.]

What do you remember about me?

[It's a question she's asked everyone who's known her from home, a ways to try and regain some kind of self-identity that she's lost over the last year and a half.]

[ That's the million dollar question. He remembers loving her. He remembers taking her memory of telling her. He remembers her being with Stefan and him not deserving her. Not that this is deserving her. It's now or never, he remembers her and Stefan because nothing else is coming up. ] I remember disappointing you. [ Often. ] I remember you believed in people. You believed in change. [ Not a bad guy, etc. Until -- something (Jeremy). ] You and my brother were in puppy love. [ Because he has to belittle it somehow. And there it is. [She's all those things, still, but they've become something slightly more twisted, less good than what he might be used to.

And she does believe in people. It's just sometimes it's the worst she believes instead of the best. People are just as capable of terrible things as they are of good ones. Herself, included.]

[He at least is somewhat able to hide his feelings from her, but the rest? Not so much (sense motive 22).]

[ He does say so. He's smart enough not to confess his real feelings to her. She doesn't know that him. And even if she were that Elena, she'd have forgotten what he said. It's best in the wind. ]

[That has her leaning back in her seat, now nursing her glass of wine, expression darkening slightly as if she's trying to remember things that are just...a giant black spot in the back of her mind.]

I didn't remember you or your brother until I...heard your names. Even then, it's just like water slipping through my fingers.

The only thing I really remember is what happened right before I came here. It was a car accident, and I was drowning...

[She shakes her head, as if trying to shake of that memory. It's the only one she has from home, and she doesn't want it.]

[ His will save (18) means his knuckles don't tighten around the step of his glass, don't break it. She was drowning. But, she's here now. ]

I don't remember that. [ He thinks. ] You were kidnapped. Stefan and I teamed up and rescued you. [ His lips come together to form a thin line. ] That's what I remember.

[Her lips press together as well, as if she's trying to recollect that before she promptly gives up and shakes her head.]

It doesn't matter. If it happened, it happened a long time ago and no amount of reminiscing is going to bring it back.

[ It's weird how for this he is. How ready he is for something new. The Elena here can more than take care of herself. She's not hung up on Stefan Salvatore. She's killed someone. He finds he likes that. He's a twisted soul. But, his first go round with the knights had been all about Elena.

Here she is. Here they are.

He can move on.

Not exactly. He'll always keep tabs on her. He'll never be able to stay away, exactly.

What sucks is he may be a little more in love with her. But, like she needs to know that. ]

At first. [ And then he chased her down alone. And look where it got him. Ah, well. ]

[ ... He likes her more now. Maybe a little less, too. She reminds him of someone, someone whose name he can't recall. Someone like her. His feelings once again are mixed.

[Just a fair warnings. She's not an easy person to be around right now. She's volatile, mildly depressing, stubborn as hell, and all around exhausting.

But if he keeps this up he might eventually break through the shell she's been building around herself over the past half year or so.

But, to answer your question, I'd say about 28. Considering you bothered to have me guess, I'd say you're probably older than that. Maybe quite a bit older than that.
