The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

The world was created by the gods, long ago, because the world that they existed in was starting to move on to bigger and better things and they still wanted to ... reap the benefits of having followers and believers. So they carved out a place of their own and basically destroyed any chances for progress and improvement, and they survived for a while. Everyone was happy so long as there were enough human sacrifices to go around.
[This was not party talk, but he's never actually explained it to anyone before.]
Then this other god showed up, called Ka Anor. He wasn't content with preying on the available humans, he wanted to feed on the gods instead. The gods started panicking, and so they did what gods do.
They found humans to do their dirty work.

This world is sort of like the best mix of both. The world is an insane place full of magic and forces I don't fully understand, but there's enough that's familiar too.
