The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I got kidnapped to that world when I was sixteen. I spent twelve years there, and then I fell through the Veil.

What was your first world like?

[generaldavideus]

A lot like this one, sans the Veil and all the magic that comes with it. I'm from Chicago, in America, originally, just not this Chicago.

Is it stranger, coming to a world almost like your own, but not quite?

[generaldavideus]

Actually ... it kind of makes things easier.

[He pauses for a minute before trying to figure out how to explain it.]

This world is sort of like the best mix of both. The world is an insane place full of magic and forces I don't fully understand, but there's enough that's familiar too.

And at least you didn't have to learn how to use a microwave oven.

True. But I really don't get the whole obsession with texting.

Who really wants to share their every thought each moment of the day with all of their friends? I certainly don't want to hear them.

[generaldavideus]

[He gives a bit of a shrug. He's never really had a lot of friends to begin with.]

I guess that's just another thing we have to get used to.

I'm pretty good at adjusting. Better at it than Anira.

It's not something that's easy to do. Sometimes you just want the way things used to be.

[He laughs.]

[He nods again, before taking a step back.]

Anyway. I just wanted to say congratulations, again, and let you know that I start training early, but hopefully not too early for you.

[His other squire is a teenage girl. He's learned to let her get her rest but still not let her sleep until noon.

Also ... someone told her he's her mentor, right? He hopes that came up somewhere.]
