Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

[will's disguise 17 says ... clearly someone else dressed him. thx abigail. or alice or francesca or anyone with a vagina pretty much. now he is all set to cling to the wall and avoid talking to anyone all night. :) although he is eyeing some of the people in the room with an oddly contemplative face but when is he not doing that tbh. weirdo. ]

[ fluttering over like a shy butterfly, abigail zooms right to will's side. so many knighting ceremonies, so many times she needs to have make up applied to her cheek. she said fuck it today and let alex rest his make up brushes (probably stolen from lila), because she knows she's only going to see will and then... hang out with the dogs so she doesn't have to run into anyone else.

great plan. such a smarty pants. when she reaches will, she grabs his arm and stretches up to whisper: ] Happy knighting!

[i'd hope alex would use better stuff than that ok!! but w/e, will isn't going to comment on it even if he notices. which he probably does barring a crit fail bc his spot game is intense.]

I guess she was concerned with how presentable I'd be.

Well, you clean up nice. [ for the record. ] And your sectmates seem... [ weird. ] Nice.

If you can call them that. I mean, a lack of sect isn't ... really a sect, is it?

It is, kind of, I think. There's other people who didn't fit into one sect enough to choose it. That's a little bit like belonging to something bigger.

That's a nice way of looking at it.

[Felicity scaled back a bit for this party (disguise 16), but she still looks lovely and as she makes her way around the room she can pick up a few familiar faces as well as new ones. When she spots Will, she makes her way over with a small smile.]

[he stares at her oddly before settling on his pithy comment:] I thought the point of freelancing was not to have a team.

[She gives a bit of a shrug.]

We're still kind of a team. We're the team of misfits - but there's nothing wrong with that.

[mydesigns]

United by our lack of allegiance.

[allmydreams]

[She nods.]

Well, I wouldn't call it a lack of allegiance. We're still loyal to Wynn. More because we don't fit into one particular box.

Odds and ends.

I tend to prefer unique. Gives less of an implication that we can be shoved off into a drawer until they need us.

Doesn't help if the implication feels true.

No, I suppose it doesn't.

[But it's all about how you think about it. And Felicity knows that freelancers carry just as much weight as everyone else.]

Maybe I'm just overthinking. I have tendency to do that.

[She nods slowly.]

Sadly, that's not something I was burdened with. I tend to not think enough.

[he shrugs a little.] Sometimes I wish I could think less.
