[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions: Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask! Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. [ Like this, she's afraid of what she might do. Afraid that her fragile grasp on control won't be enough. ]

You're not going to hurt me, Emma. [Whether she believes that Emma never could or whether she's a cocky shit about her own abilities?? It's about 50/50 here.]

Hook said you took the fall for Lila for this. [There's an unspoken gratitude in that statement but just in case that's not clear.] Thank you.

Well, I wasn't about to let Poseidon keep her. That's not something to thank me for. [ After all, Lila hadn't. And why should she? Emma still hadn't found a way to save Amara: she'd only made things more complicated. ] You can thank me when we find a way to help Amara. [ She shakes her head. ] No one deserves to live like that, and after all this time, we're no closer than we were at the start.

I don't understand how Wynn can let this keep happening. Or why he hasn't found a solution to... [She gestures to what Emma has going on.]

Unless his goal is to have everyone involved end up cursed.

If Wynn could do everything, he wouldn't need a whole castle full of knights. He's doing the best he can.

His best isn't good enough apparently. [She grumbles, but it's not really Wynn she's mad at.] I could have prevented this. Shit like this is what I was trying to make sure didn't happen. You always end up hurt. Germany, Andres, now this? I just-- [She lets out a hard huff of an exhale.]

Jordan's a genie. I don't know if you knew. I didn't know until Andres. His bottle rolled out of his bag and I grabbed it and... [She glances away, finding this harder to be honest about than she thought.]

[uncurse]

What? [ It doesn't process right away. It comes out so fast, she doesn't quite pick up on the connection immediately. She works through it, though (wis 13). Slowly, strugglingly, she pulls the threads together. ] ... Did you wish for something?

[reallywicked]

[She shakes her head.]

I was going to. I... I wanted to, but I wanted to try to do it right, to be smart about it.

I kept his bottle. Ever since Andres. That's why I got so angry with you. I knew if you stuck around, you'd figure it out. You always do. So I said whatever I needed to so that you wouldn't want to be around me. I just wanted some time to figure it out. I just- I wanted to find a way to make sure you or Lila or anyone that matters didn't end up hurt.

Turns out the only way to be smart about making a wish is to not make one. I gave him his bottle back. Told him we could drop the whole fake dating thing. It's not worth it. I don't want to be that person.

[uncurse]

[ Though she listens intently, sympathetic to the temptation of darkness, in the end, Emma is at a loss for what to say. It's a lot to take in. She shakes her head, focusing on the most pressing question for figuring out what Faye's trying to get out of this confession. Absolution, perhaps, but if she made the right call (and she did), she doesn't need it. ] I don't understand. Why are you telling me this?

[reallywicked]

Because... [Because I've wanted to tell you ever since Andres but I made my decision and I had to live with it. Because I hurt you and I regret it. Because I'm bad at this, but I want to try, but every time I think I have it figured out, I get it wrong.]

...I don't know. I just thought you might want to know.

[ The thinly simmering anger at the injustice of her situation seizes the opportunity to rise to a rolling boil. On most days, Emma can temper the effects of the way her loneliness growing up stunted her development, can combat its effects on her interpersonal relationships and act like an adult.

But with Faye holding her as a captive audience here to vent her own problems now that it's convenient for Faye, now that Emma has other things going on and can't help, now that Faye's life has settled and Emma's is in chaos, all she can focus on is how furious the imbalance of it makes her.

And she snaps. ]

You thought that I wanted to know that you had a way to stop this, to protect Lila, to free Amara and bring David back, and you gave it up?

[reallywicked]

[She visibly flinches, as if the words sting against her skin. Mouth dropping open, she has nothing to say. In truth, her life is nothing but settled. Perhaps it seems that way to Emma by comparison, but for Faye, she feels like she's grasping at straws to regain the small amounted stability she had gathered in her time with the Knights.

Part of attempting to piece her life back together had been to come here, to make amends, to be honest.

And look what it got her.

Pushing herself to her feet, tears burn at the corners of her eyes, her throat tight. She knows that any attempt to speak will give away that weakness. So instead of saying anything at all, she turns and leaves. It's only once she's far enough away to believe she's out of earshot that she lets out the sob she's been holding back. The entire reason she had kept Jordan's bottle was to try to think of a way to keep the people she cared about safe. Emma was right. She had the key to solving all of this, but what price would they all have paid for the answer? Despite knowing that, she's been doubting her decision ever since finding out about Emma's curse- and now she's been called out on that.]

[ As soon as Faye turns away, Emma knows she's fucked up. Said the wrong thing. Let her anger rule her, instead of any semblance of goodness. She's supposed to be the Savior, the bringer of happy endings, and that's not what she's doing. She's acting more like a monster than anything else.

She turns, dissatisfied and already punishing herself, and sinks below the water to flee into solitude. ]
