[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters participating in the following missions are asked to wait until their missions have concluded before tagging into things that take place chronologically after said missions: Ravenloft, Shadow Bermuda, and City of Blood If you aren't certain if that applies to you, please ask! Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. [Another playdate for Shay and Lu! This is more of a mommy playdate too, since it comes with snacks and movies. There's a blanket sprawled out on the floor in front of the couch for the girls to roll around and play on. Mostly they just stare at each other, but it's good bonding time for the little ones.

And for the older ones as well. Myri has needed this for some time, but doesn't really know how to take time for herself so it took some time for her to ask. Leaning her head against Vi's shoulder, she lets out a contented sigh.]

It's been quiet lately. Some bustle from a few missions, but nothing quite as... large scale as before.

[graveflowers]

That's because we've been home for so long. [ someone doesn't sound at all upset about that even a little bit. not one iota of upset. ]

[witchwoman]

I fear it won't last. All of this quiet...something is bound to happen. [She doesn't want it to, but it feels inevitable.]

Do you ever think about it? What happens then?

[graveflowers]

Not as much as I'm assuming you do. [ she knows myri very well and when she brings stuff up like this, vi knows it's because it's been on her mind for a while and she probably didn't want to worry anyone with what she may or may not decide. ]

Wynn will send everyone back out. [ a beat. ] But not me. [ she shifts a little so she can look at myri fully, eyes full of certainty. ] I owe you all so much and it breaks my heart and terrifies me to send everyone out without me, but I can't leave Lucia right now. I know she would be fine and safe and everyone in the castle would look after her, but I won't be able to do do my job properly if my focus is fractured like that. No one would get my full attention and that would get too many people hurt.

[ accidentally shot gar on andres because she was too busy thinking about the state of her unborn child, she'd be even more of a liability now. ]

[Myri is quiet as Vi speaks, and quiet after she's done for several long moments.]

I feel like it should be an easy choice, like I should feel as strongly as you do, as sure as you do.

But I don't. The idea of letting the others go out there, not knowing that they're safe? It tears me up inside. But how can I leave her? [She looks down at her daughter.]

How could I risk myself like that? [She leaves unsaid that she means how could she risk herself when Finnick is already out commission.]

Because you're a good person, Myr. You care about people so much, of course you're having trouble deciding. [ she reaches over, covering myri's hand with her own. ] Sweetie, it's not wrong to want to go with them. It's incredibly brave and you know I'll support you no matter what and so will they.

[ she may not believe that last one completely, but she's giving the benefit of the doubt. ]

Is it right to leave her, though? [She looks down at her daughter.] What if something were to happen? What if I didn't come back?

[graveflowers]

If you don't come back then I will tell you daughter how brave her mother was to fight so that she will be able to live without the threat of evil always over her. That her mother and her father gave everything they had so that she could have a life better than what we had.

[ she squeezes myri's hand tightly. ] I asked Wynn what would happen. Our children will always have a place within these walls and there will always be someone to protect them and care for them.

It's not right or wrong, Myri, it's what you can live with. Could you live with letting them go without you or would the guilt should something, god forbid, happen to any of them be too much to bear?

[witchwoman]

They're my family as much as she is. [She feels guilty even saying that. Her daughter is the mot important thing in her world, but it doesn't stop her from caring about all the others that she's come to love as her own family.]

I want to stay here with her, until she's a bit older, but... I don't think I could stand the thought of the others out there without me, possibly hurt or worse.

I'm so scared that I'll leave her an orphan because of it, but... [But she's going to do it anyway. She's going to go back out into the field one day. She can't imagine it any other way.]

[ there's a sharp moment where vi says nothing because she wants to correct myri that shayla won't be an orphan, but that seems cruel. even the reminder that lucia will be an orphan makes her chest hurt. ]

You don't have to make yourself feel bad because you're a good person, Myr.

[witchwoman]

[It's a coping mechanism. And one Vi would likely never really understand, one she doesn't fully understand herself. But the only way to accept that she can't have Finnick in her life is to think of the man she loved as dead and gone. If she didn't, she wouldn't find the strength to do anything but try to find a way to bring him back. And while Shayla's father might be alive, he certainly wouldn't have a place in her life. He didn't even believe she truly existed.]

I wish it was that simple, but it really isn't.

[Good, bad. Myri had come to realize that it didn't really exist. She could be the best person and make the worst decisions. Did that make it any better of a choice?]

Sometimes it is. Good is in your heart and you make choices to better the people around you, even if it breaks your own heart in the process.

[witchwoman]

[She's not sure if she agrees. Still troubled, Myri chooses to quiet herself instead of pressing the point further. Feeling bad for the things she can and can't do is sort of just the natural way of things for her. She's not entirely sure how to just let that roll off her back.]
