[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from rescuing Gar in New York City, but before the planned Keijen Blade concert at the beginning of 2017.

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. Well. That mission went better than she thought it would have.

It isn't that she thought it would fail, necessarily, but going in, she knew the risk of it being a trap was high. But it was her idea that got them there in the first place, so it would have been a little bit dickish if she refused to go, whatever the case may be. That being said, she is very glad to have Gar back, and even though they didn't find Rafael, a partial success is better than no success at all, at least in her book.

Some may not feel the same way, but knowing the reasons why, she personally can't blame them for that.

After her post-mission nap comes her post-mission drink, which leaves her settled in the bar for a few hours. Once that routine is met, however, Felicity goes back to her usual routine, spending time in London when she needs to get out of the house, or when the weather gets gross and cold later, focusing on staying inside and working out in the training room. She is well aware she is behind the curve when it comes to the rest of the new team that she has found herself on as of late, and while she knows that she has her own skills to bring to the table, she doesn't want it to seem that she can't pull her own weight in a fight either.

She's mostly focusing on hand-to-hand, which has improved a great deal since she first started as a knight, but that doesn't mean occasionally the heavy bag doesn't swing around to smack her in the face. She also can be found on the shooting range, because a gun is still a girl's best friend.

She also doesn't know if there is training for resisting the thrall of people like Keijen and the Mind Master, but if there is, she wants to find it, which is why the final stop for this tour is the library. She knows that she could probably go talk to the head of the Dragon's Mind for more direct results, but she wants to have an idea of what to ask and not expect Sir Ellison to just educate her from the ground up. She also doesn't want to waste her time if no such thing exists.

Therefore, research it is.

One of the first orders of business once Felicity gets back from the mission after "sleep" and "eat" is to track down her new squire. She missed his squiring ceremony and while that is regrettable, she's more than willing to make up for it now, with a much better introduction. Instead of wandering the castle trying to find said squire all on her own, because that seems like way too much wasted time and effort, she simply sends him a text, asking him to meet her in the kitchen.

If there ever is a common denominator shared by anyone, it's food.

She is in the process of making herself a very long sandwich when Finn comes in and she looks up with a smile. "Finn, right? I'm Felicity."

While he understood why this meeting was shaking out the way it was, missions being important and all that, it does mean he's had to deal with the mild anxiety of anticipating said meeting.

His experience in the First Order didn't lead him to expect a bright-eyed, smiling young woman to greet him, either. Especially considering his last 'superior.'

"Uh, yeah. That's me." This is not how he expected this to go at all, already. "Do you...want some help?"

"Help?" She glances down at the sandwich before shaking her head. "No. I'm here to help you. Are you hungry?"

She knows that mentors and new people can make people nervous, so she's trying to do her best to put him at ease. She's not a super intense mentor in terms of early morning workouts and things like that, but she does want to get to know her squire on a personal level. Makes it easier to come to her with problems.

"I make a fantastic Italian sub. And it's about the only thing I'm fantastic at making."

"I mean I could set the table or something?"

That seems like the polite thing to do, right?

"And yeah, sure. It looks good."

Finn just doesn't quite have the confidence not to be anxious about these kinds of things. Put him in the middle of a training simulation and he's clear-headed and steadfast. Social situations? Not so much.

"Eh, we don't need to be that formal." The sandwiches find two plates and she hands one off to him, before moving over to find a stool. She can roll with socially awkward just as easily as the most charming people out there. She's had the practice. "So tell me about you. Where are you from?"

He takes the sandwich and has a seat too, making sure to listen to her question and then answer before he shoves some of it in his mouth.

"Came through the Veil like a lot of the other people here, but there's a few that I knew from before that. Han Solo, Rey, Poe...if you know any of them."

There's a pause as she cycles through the names and tries to put them to faces, but she does snap her fingers at one of them. "Yes! Sort of. I met Han at my promotion, but we didn't really talk much. We are in the same sect though."

"He found Rey and I on his ship in the middle of space. He'd lost it in a bet and we, well, stole it to get away from the First Order." He pauses for a minute, realizing that might not mean anything to her. "The bad guys."

He takes another bite of the sandwich, his eyes practically rolling up into his head. "This is so good."

She smirks a bit at that, because appreciating her ability to make a sandwich is always awesome, and she nods in return before taking a bite of her own. "So you've been to space? That sounds pretty cool."

Felicity has never really been into sci-fi or space in general, but she can say that she's never actually met someone from outer space before.

"I was practically born there, for better or worse. Grew up on military bases, which tended to be giant starships. I've been in space more than solid ground."

He seems intently focused on eating this sandwich, because talking about his past is going to inherently touch on things he'd rather leave there, no matter how massive a part of his life they've been.

He doesn't have to tell her anything he doesn't want to. Felicity isn't one to judge a person's past before they arrived at the knights, unless they were some kind of homicidal maniac and aren't looking to reform their choices.

"Well, I am the opposite, unfortunately. I've never been in space at all."

He'd practically been building up to desert the First Order his entire life. It had just taken too long for him to finally work up to actually doing it.

It took staring orders to murder innocents in the face and refusing to follow through.

He's not ashamed of his past, but he knows what people will say about what he's been through and he doesn't need it. He survived and became better for it.

"There aren't very many people who have on this side of the Veil, it seems like. This is easily the longest I've ever been in one place."

"Well, we've got offices all over the world." Felicity's always been transient herself - mostly for work and avoiding things like the cops, but still, she's never been one to stay in one place, even if she usually circles around back to New York every once in a while. "Staying here is good for you training, but once you're a full knight, you can bounce around as often as you like."

"I'm not saying staying in the same place is a bad thing. I didn't have much of a choice, really. There's a lot to like here."

The people around him had stayed the same for the most part, at least. If only because they trained together.

"Hopefully by then I actually know what those other places even are. I still feel like I know next to nothing about this planet."

"Well, that is where I can help," she says with a smile. "I am very fluent in all things Earth. And one of the great things about this job is that we travel everywhere in the world, depending on where we're needed. So you'll get to see a lot of it for yourself."

Plus, you know, there's the internet. That's always a pretty great way to explore without actually going anywhere.

"So what you're telling me is that you're basically the best mentor ever and I really lucked out?"

Because all of these things sound like good things.

She laughs. "Well, when you put it like that, who am I to say no?" She will never turn down a compliment about being the best mentor ever.

[After running errands in London, Thoster catches word about Felicity's return. He checks their room first, knowing that she'd want some sleep, but finding the room empty (but seeing telltale signs that she had been there), he makes his way to the bar next.

What can he say? He knows her pretty well.]

Care for some company? [He asks as he approaches, a smile forming as he sees her. The relief in his expression is quite evident. He's been worried about her.]

[She glances over when she hears his voice with a wide smile, before nodding as she nudges the stool next to her with her foot.]
