MISSION ♔ meeting with taenya farstorm

[ anastacia leads the group to the councilwoman's office on the appointed day, while christos hangs back at the hotel, because he apparently wants to be able to move out behind the scenes on this mission without taenya having any idea who he is, or that he's with the knights. just in case.

the councilwoman's office is bright and welcoming, one entire wall made of windows, and a plethora of plants everywhere, making it seem almost more like an indoor greenhouse than a politician's space. taenya farstorm herself is a petite woman, no more than five foot two, with unusual taupe colored hair and very prominent elven ears that she makes no attempt to hide. she's dressed in modern, professional clothing, and holds herself with an impressive bearing that makes her seem much larger than her stature would suggest. she shakes each of their hands in turn, gathering names, before turning back to pick up a pot of some kind of steaming tea.

"I'm so glad you answered my call. I've heard promising things about what Wynn stands for, and it's hard to know who to trust in this business. Tea?" ]

[The more elves she meets, the more Faye feels like an Amazon with her 5'10" frame jfc. She stands a few steps behind Anastacia on her left side, taking in the look of the room. At the mention of tea, she holds up a hand and shakes her head, not really interested in it at the moment.]

Happy to help. [She puts on a sweet smile, trying to act like she means it more than she actually does. It's not that she doesn't want to help, exactly. She just doesn't care as much as she probably should. (bluff 20 total).]

Tea would be lovely. Thank you.

[She never says no to tea. She glances around the room as well, eyes taking note of the personal touches to try and learn a little more about her without actually asking.]

[It figures they go to France and meet with someone who isn't French. What the fuck ever, if you think Lila is going to let her French lessons go to waste then you are wrong. Where is Eric to be impressed with his squire rn?]

[ she holds up a hand to decline the offer of tea, and then shakes her head. ]

Don't mention it.

[ not realizing she's just repeated lila's dismissal, she soldiers on. ]

He mentioned there had already been an attempt on your life a while back. Why don't you bring us up to speed?

as she moves to pour a couple of cups, she nods, apparently unfazed by emma's bluntness - almost appreciative of it.

"It's exactly as it sounds. There are many in the government who think what I'm trying to do is too radical, by which I mean it threatens the interest of their corporate friends. They aren't thinking about the well-being of anyone, just their pocketbooks. It's hardly surprising that they wouldn't hesitate to try to snuff out one life, when the businesses they're protecting destroy life every day they operate." ]

[It's hard to get ahead of the corporate greed machine at times.]

Can you think of any companies that have been particularly vocal about things?

[ "The Mandriva group is certainly at the top of the list. They own half the central core of the city, which is where my proposal hits closest to home."

anastacia accepts her tea gratefully. ] Your proposal?

taenya hands out the others and raises an eyebrow at them. "Wynn didn't explain it?" she moves to the windowed wall across from them, folding her arms and looking out across the horizon with a frown across the city. "Take a look. Tell me what you see." she gestures for them to join her, and the landscape of the city proper stretches out below them. ]

Paris. [Obvious answer, but true.]

[ emma raises an eyebrow, but steps up alongside her to take a look. her lips purse. ]

I ... see a bunch of buildings.

[Felicity just smirks a bit and considers her answer. She doesn't come up with much better, but ... ]

People.

A waste of my time? [Faye mutters under her breath, patience wearing thin.]

[Once out of the room, Faye turns and glances over her shoulder at Felicity.]

I'll call, you drive? [She's already digging her phone out of her purse and dialing the extremely grumpy Knight. This might count as the most cooperative Faye has been since arriving in this world.]

[Felicity nods her agreement as she follows her to the car. With a drive check of 17, the ride will be pretty smooth, so Faye should have no problems talking while she does.

Also, unless she's on speaker, she probably won't be talking too much but she will try to pick up what she can from Faye's side of the conversation.]

[ christos picks up on the 2nd ring. ]

What is it.

[Wow, Christos. What are you? A girl not wanting to seem too eager for a phone call after a first date? Faye's tone is clipped. As soon as he answers, she puts him on speaker so that she doesn't have to relay anything to Felicity. Time is money, people- or I guess Lila's life.]

Where are you?

[Sadly, it probably doesn't sound that different from how she talked to him on her first mission....]

[ dryly: ] Enjoying a picnic.

Where do you think I am? Doing my job.

That's what you're doing. [And muttered under her breath: "moron"] We need to meet with you. Now.

[Maybe if she learned how to say please... or possibly fill him in on why they needed to do this... maybe then this would go easier. Whoops.]

[That's okay, Felicity's got that covered.]

Someone trying to poison our client poisoned Lila instead. We have samples of what it is, we need to find somewhere or someone to test it.

[somewhere or someone that isn't Taenya, because something fishy is happening there.]

We'll reconvene at the hotel. [ boy, his tone changed fast ] Lila's condition? What effects did it have?

She nearly passed out. [Faye's just glad he's taking this seriously.] They were working on getting her a cleric but Anastascia wanted Felicity and I to get you samples of the tea we managed to get out of the room.

We need to find whoever did this. [Venom fills her tone quickly. Don't fuck with her friends.]

We will.

[Felicity's good at being reassuring and she has no doubt that they can rain down on this situation with a vengeance.]

We just need to find out who.

[she's also already veering back towards the hotel.]

I think I have a good idea of who would be interested. But we can speak about that at the hotel. [ and he hangs up. :| ]

[Faye scoffs at the hang up.]

I hate that guy. [But she's not really able to put the venom in her voice. She's too worried.]
