The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme.  With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity.  Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.  

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums.    People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

Fireworks? Fancy. I wonder if they'll be magic fireworks or the old-fashioned kind.

[Either way it will be fun, and something to see, she's sure. Things always seem to be a little extravagant around here.]

If Ella has anything to say about it? Probably magic. I'm gonna suggest we hang back during the show, though. Her aim is shit.

Fortunately with fireworks the only aim you really need is up. I think.

[Yeah, she knows literally zero about fireworks. Or explosives for that matter.]

[Her expression changes a bit a moment later, though.]

Speaking of Ella, we talked a little bit earlier and I think there's something we should talk about.

She didn't... she didn't say something terrible to you, did she? She just doesn't think a lot. Gets her in trouble all the time, but she means well.

[She reaches out to squeeze his hand, shaking her head.]

No, it's nothing like that at all.

[Does she look nervous? Because it's not that, exactly, but she's never had to deal with this kind of situation before.]

I just think that there's some things you deserve to know about me. It's nothing that I really keep a secret, but I'd rather you hear it from me than...someone else.

Uhm... [She's lucky that she's so good at talking to people, because that's literally all that's keeping him from freaking out. He was about two seconds from asking her out on another real date and now this???]

[Again, it's casual, because this isn't something she's ashamed of, not anymore. But he should know what he's getting into. She takes his hand and leads him out into one of the adjacent hallways, away from the noise.]

[Once they're out in the hall, a little bit of worry starts to set in.]

Look, if you've changed your mind, you don't need to hang out with me tonight.

[Her brow furrows before she shakes her head.]

This doesn't have anything to do with you. I'm here with you because I want to be. I like you, but I don't want you to get into something without knowing...what you're getting into.

[Her head tilts slightly as she watches his reactions.]

For instance, you should know that I'm not human.

[Here we go...]

[He just... blinks.]

Is that what..? I grew up here with the Knights and stuff, you know? I don't have a problem with Shadowkind.

That, in and of itself, isn't the problem.

[Andrew is not a Shadowkind expert... at all. He's super smart, but really only in the fields that he focuses on, so he keeps staring at her.]

Never heard of it. [The way he says it is slightly apologetic because he feels bad for being ignorant on that kind of thing, but at least his first instinct isn't to get his phone out to google it?]

[Welp, that makes this worse. Explanation time!]

I have to feed off of others to survive, but I take chi, or energy, instead of anything physical. The kind energy happens to be sexual in nature.

[She just grins, though it's a bit sheepish.]

It's not the first time I've heard it described like that.

[He should say no. This is a bad plan. But he's curious and he likes her, and this was obviously something she thought was important for him to know.]

Alright. [Only time in his life that he's been anything close to brave. Jumping in head first without any idea what he's getting into.]

[Well, she's been feeding on people in the Castle and around London for awhile now and no bodies have piled up, so bad plan, yes. Worse plan? No, Bo's definitely had worse.

Hope he doesn't mind her stepping forward and completely destroying any personal bubble he might have had a moment before. Her hand reaches up to lay against his cheek as she leans in and presses her lips gently against his.

As first kisses go? This will be an interesting one.]

[Interesting doesn't begin to describe it. To Andrew, it's basically the best kiss he's ever had. He feels like he's lost all sense of up and down and all he can do is stand there frozen and hope that she just keeps kissing him like that. He's not even sure if she's done anything sex vampire-y yet. But she's kissing him and he's okay with that.]

[She needs some kind of reaction before she can start, a tangible reaction to the gesture, and it certainly comes quickly enough. Frankly, she would have been disappointed if it hadn't, but that's one less thing for her to be concerned about.

Her lips part a bit, and while she originally only meant to take the tiniest bit, just as a demonstration, it's been a short while since she's fed last, and it lasts longer than she probably should have let it (will save 10).

His chi is warm and comforting as it passes from him to her, just like he is, even if it lacks the punch she'd get from someone supernatural. Frankly, she doesn't care too much about that anyway.

And then, finally, she pulls away, though she stays close, watching him to see if he freaks out or, worse, feels too weak to stand.]

[The sensation is strange. He knows that it's happening and can sort of feel it when it does, but he doesn't mind. It's like sharing a part of himself that he would never be able to share, a part he never knew he even HAD to share.

When she pulls back, he feels a little lightheaded, but nothing more than what he would expect from a knock out first kiss from the hottest girl he's ever laid eyes on. He doesn't feel ill. Slowly, his eyes open and he gives her a lazy, dopey sort of smile.]

Wow.

[Seeing him smile makes one of her own break across her face, though there's a bit of relief to it, too.

Feeding off humans is always a little scary for her, honestly. The ones she kissed before she learned control didn't fare nearly as well.]
