The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ sup sup it's your favorite (haaaaa) mentor. he's not being around the bush right now though, so he just comes out with it. ] Max. How's next week sound for your orientation?

Huh? [He is busy vacuuming the food, so he takes a while to process that.] Oh... Hey! Yeah, sure. [Munch! Munch! Munch! Gulp!] It's not like I have better things to do.

[druidisms]

How have you been settling in? [ gus uses caring mentor.... it's.... kinda sorta effective? ukw, he's new at this shit. AT LEAST HE IS TRYING. IDK WHAT YALL WANT FROM HIM. ]

[beatemup]

[Yeah, it's super effective. Max is not used to getting this kind of treatment and it makes him feels a little bit guilty to go all out like usual, he even stops eating.] Pretty good. The castle's a bit stuffy for my taste and the desk work's a bit boring, but nothing I can't handle. Wynn's a pretty cool boss too, he doesn't mind me using the castle's resource for personal reason, so I guess everything's good.

[druidisms]

[ gus will latch on to stuffy. he can sort out what max needs knight resources for at orientation when they're, you know, in private. ] There's a movie theater in here, if you get bored. [ and he saw you with your game boy thingy at the last party. ]

[beatemup]

[Yeah, those two are different things. He plays games as many times as a panda eats bamboo, but he only watches movies once in a while.] Not a really big fan of movies, but yeah, sure, if I get really bored, why not. I'm hoping you send me on a mission before that happens though.

[druidisms]

I'm not in charge of that, missions are all Wynn's doing. I just judge you afterward. Unless I'm there with you, which isn't out of the question.

That's weird. How can you judge objectively if you're not there to watch?

I'll get reports from the knights that are there with you.

So, one of your jobs is to summarize the reports of my doings? That's suck. You should see me in action when you get the chance. Not getting cocky here, but I'm much more interesting in person than on a pile of papers.

I don't doubt that.

[He nods cheerfully in agreement.] So, you have a bear and live in the forest, right? Are you a ranger or what?

[druidisms]

Druid, actually. And I live in the castle, the bear lives in the woods. [ he ain't even bothered, just casually correcting the assumption that he lives in lan's unabomber cabin in the woods. he def sleeps in the castle. ]

[beatemup]

Seriously? Cool! Show me one of your tricks. Oh! I know what would be awesome. I always want to see a spirit wolf. Summon one for me, will ya? [He looks at him with glimmering eyes full of expectation, like a puppy waiting to be fed, except this one has the face of an orc.]

[druidisms]

Do I look like I fucking do tricks on command? [ spoilers, no. ] Ask nicely and we'll see.

[beatemup]

[Yeah, that was him asking nicely. He used interrogative form, didn't he? He really wants to see the spirit wolf, so instead of barking back at him, he tries to ask him again. (will 15)] Uh...? Please do that summoning trick for me? [He is so not used to this. (diplomacy 6)]

[druidisms]

[ a for effort, i guess. gus gives in, however unwillingly. he casts summon nature's ally and a small, grey wolf appears next to him. it growls for a second before gus leans down and scratches it's neck, muttering soothing words until it relaxes. (handle animal 22) ] That's the only wolf I can do.

[ because he sure as shit isn't jumping into wild shape at a party. ]

[Congratulation, Gus. You just made into the top of Max's favorite people in the whole Knighthood. Not that you get a prize with it. Just a little bit better treatment maybe.] Awesome! Less ghastly than I expected but still, that's really fuckin' cool. [He kneels down trying to pet the wolf. Maybe someone should tell him that wolves are not domesticated animals.]

[druidisms]

[ gus smiles a little, sending the wolf good vibrations. he's not looking to get max's hand eaten off, but the spell gives him control over the wolf so it should be fine. ] I enjoy the spell. [ he's kind of pleased with max's response, ngl. ]

[beatemup]

[And he plays with the wolf like it is a puppy.] You should teach me how to do it some other time. [A wolf as a pet sounds nice, or maybe a boar.] Max, the warrior and his loyal dire wolf striding toward the end of the world brandishing all evil, sounds cool, right?

[druidisms]

Would if I could. But it does have a certain ring to it. Seems like a good goal at least, I'm starting to see why Wynn recruited you. [ and he's started to be more fond of max. at least in a big brother, little brother manner (ignoring that Max is definitely larger). ]

[beatemup]

[He'll just smile proudly, hearing that.] And I'm starting to see why you are a veteran Knight. [Too bad all of this will be gone in the next few days.] Well, I'm gonna grab some more chow. I'll be looking for your guidance at the orientation, sensei. [He bows like a Japanese before returning back to clean up the buffet table.]
