[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of the first half of the month. Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

It takes its toll - less because of the work out and more because of her sleep schedule. At least a couple nights each week (generally but not exclusively weekends) Kate can be found slipping out after dinner and back in not long before the shortening dawn of an autumn evening turns into daylight proper. She's discreet about it and mildly stealthy, but doesn't seem to be striving to go totally unnoticed.
Sometimes she seeks out less-traveled places - the roof of the castle is a popular haunt, and the sharp-eyed or adventurous might find her nursing a beer while tucked up among the eaves. The rest of her time is spent more mundanely: she eats a lot of meals in the hall, hangs out in the library or on the lawn, grumbles about communal bathrooms while brushing her teeth, mans the front desk, pesters techs about ideas for new trick arrows. Totally normal stuff.
And then, you know, one day she wakes up and suddenly everyone's talking about war with a country she's barely even heard of. (Is it technically war if only one party involved is a country? Isn't this more like an insurgency? Questions she probably shouldn't ask but is totally going to given the chance.) The weird pall cast over the castle doesn't prevent her from going about her day; if anything it makes her more determined to maintain the outward trappings of a normal day as much reasonably possible. ]

today she's trying to heal one of the trees she'd been using as target practice, mumbling to herself. it's not actually to herself, she's aggressively trying to make the nature spirits she can suddenly see leave her alone. when she spots kate walking by, she jumps at the distraction, literally waving off the invisible spirit of a dryad like it's a bothersome fly. ]
