[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of the first half of the month.    Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

[ trouble sleeping is a commonality in the castle, abigail has found. at least it is if evidenced by the amount of people roaming the castle late at night. usually she sticks to sneaking into will's room (or alex's if her nightmare is...about will), but sometimes the desire to not sleep is too great and she has to find something to do instead.

sometimes she heads to the movie theater or the library, flipping through anatomy and history books, and sometimes she heads to the firing range, but more often than not, the thin brunette can be found in the training room taking her unease out on a punching bag with her fists or eviscerating a practice dummy with her knife. she is small, but deceptively good with a knife. no one would want to be that practice dummy. ]

[ cordelia is here at the firing range, somewhat skeptical about this whole thing, but not about to be a total failure ok. except where she... rolled a 5 on her attack, the noise and recoil startling her so badly that she shrieks and very nearly drops the weapon. she does, however, step backward reflexively, ripping off the earmuffs as she declares: ] Ugh! Is this even legal?

[lurings]

[ abigail glances over dispassionately. cordelia is hard to miss. the way hyenas are hard to miss in the lion king. enjoy that comparison, but it's the first thing that comes to mind when the other girl shrieks. she should say something. correct her. tell her to ask fred for help. ]

Shouldn't be.

[ w o w abigail. that was nice. ]

[ it's alright, with her 11 wisdom check, she picks that up as agreement with her world view instead of an insult. :) ] I can't be the only one who thinks it's a bad idea handing a pistol to everybody who walks through the door around here, am I?

They don't. And theoretically, they train you if you've never done it before.

Theoretically. That old guy just handed me this thing, and Annie Oakley I am not.

[ good word choice because it reminds abigail of fred's dumb nickname and makes a teeny smile lift her lips. ]

Annie Oakley I am. Do you want some help?

[ cordelia hesitates a moment, but it appears to be more the result of sizing abigail up and being skeptical of her as an expert marksman than about being too proud to accept the help. ] What kind of help?

[lurings]

Well, I can teach you how to hold it.

[allaboutme]

What's wrong with how I hold it?

[lurings]

Excuse you. It can't be that bad.

[ she lifts her eyebrows like giiiiirl, but really cordelia is right, she wasn't holding it that badly. ]

Alright, so show me.

[olreliable]

[Willow doesn't have a problem sleeping, really. But sometimes she stays up too late on her new fancy phone and ends up too wired to sleep at a decent hour. So she wanders the castle and ends up in the training room. Where she finds Abigail slicing a dummy's throat open. And doing it really well.]

Wow.

[She didn't really mean to say that out loud. Oops.]

[lurings]

[ abigail jumps a little, startled, whirling to find willow. ]

Sorry. [ its automatic, the apology. what is she even apologizing for??? we don't know, she doesn't even know. ]

[olreliable]

Huh? [Willow snaps out of her daze to meet Abigail's gaze.] No! Don't apologize. I was just... Where'd you learn to do that?

[lurings]

My dad taught me. [ not a lie. not quite the truth. her dad taught her to slaughter animals, abigail taught herself how to defend herself. ]

[olreliable]

[Willow blinks at the answer, not expecting it.]

I think the most dangerous thing my dad taught me was how to tie my shoes. [She steps a little closer.]

So have you ever... [She makes a motion with her finger across her throat.] You know- in real life?

[lurings]

Yes.

[ TRUTH BOMB. or at least a tiny truth poke. same thing. abigail says it with that same quiet impassivity even though her experience with nicholas boyle is far from... unemotional. ]

[The answer just makes willow nod. She's not afraid and not overly eager about it. But it is interesting. This girl isn't built all that differently from her. She doesn't look like the fighty type.]

Could you...teach me?

[lurings]

...sure.

[ she looks shades of dubious and hesitant, but can't find a reason to say no. ]

[olreliable]

You don't have to! [Willow adds quickly, catching that hesitation because it wasn't really... hidden at all.] I just- I'm not really good at the whole... fighty thing. But I'd like to be! At least to keep myself alive, you know?

[lurings]

No, it's okay. I'm just not sure how good of a teacher I'll be.

[olreliable]

That's okay. Maybe I'll be a terrible student and you'll never know the difference.

[lol no she's the best student. she can't even pretend.]
