[Well, if you mention her in the tag, she has to appear, doesn't she? Rolling with assuming cr, because I think we talked about it once? Or i dreamed that up but whatever. Helen just quietly takes a seat near Emma with her own book from the stacks. She doesn't open the text, though, but sits with it in her lap, hands on top of the cover.]

We missed you at the ceremony.

News of familiar faces returning does tend to spread. [Which is a way of saying that Helen was definitely looking for her.]

So while it may have continued uninterrupted, it did not go unnoticed.

Charming as ever, aren't you? [Helen's smile falls slightly as she decides that continuing with idle pleasantries isn't really worth the time.]

Yes, well. If you've come for further detail, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. I've an appointment with my aesthetician.

I'm not looking to pry for information, if that's what you think. I'm simply worried about you.

I haven't become the woman I am by needing or wanting the fussing of others. You'd be better to spend it on your children, Helen. [ Not her children, precisely, but in the only sense Emma has understood the word. ] The only one who worries about me is me.

The only one you may want to worry about you, yes. But try as you might, you cannot stop me from caring about your well being. I know you aren't a child, Emma. You've been through something quite traumatic. It has nothing to do with age.

I make certain allowances for the fact that there are those in this realm who aren't at all familiar with my reputation, yourself included, but at a certain point, even I must draw a line. [ She rounds on Helen coolly. ] Were I so easily traumatized, I'd be in a nuthouse already. What happened is a tragedy, undoubtedly, but you insult me by insisting it to be anything more.
