The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Felicity is rocking her disguise check of 18. Her red dress is a familiar one. Let's be real, she probably saw it in a shop one day and wanted it in her closet again. Not that she ever thought she'd have a chance to wear it. There aren't that many parties that they have to stealth their way into these days. And this one she's actually invited to. There's no chance of her getting an explosive collar at this party either.

She's just going to mingle.]

[So Andrew actually got a 16 on his disguise check, but he's not really the fancy outfit kind of guy. So with a button down shirt and a gray hoodie, he strolls around the room, looking out for his new squire.

It's kind of weird, since one of his best friends is named Felicity? So that's going to be an adventure in not confusing the fuck out of himself, but he's pretty sure he can figure it out. Maybe.

He saw her at the ceremony, but that was in the big armor get up, so when he spots the hot blonde in the red dress? Andrew has to take a moment to wonder what the fuck sort of weird shit keeps happening to him where he ends up surrounded by attractive women???

Not complaining.]

Hey, so- [He's the best at starting conversations, really. If it helps, he has a doofy smile on his face from the start.] Thought I should officially introduce myself. Sorry for not doing it sooner, actually. Been back and forth with all this Andres stuff, but- Yeah, anyway. I'm Andrew. [long pause] Your mentor?

[fistpump]

[Felicity turns to face him more properly, being polite and all, she smiles and nods.]

Hi! I'm Felicity and I'm really excited to work under you. [And the nat 20 wisdom check means she actually realizes what she said.] And that was not what I meant! I'm sorry. I'm definitely just nervous.

[Andrew doesn't really catch on right away what it is that she's said (wis 14), but once she starts to backpedal, it dawns on him.

And then he laughs. Really hard. Because that's exactly something that he would have done back when he was a squire. He'll be able to make words eventually.]

[Well, that's not what she was expecting. It's not entirely a bad reaction, but it is a tiny bit ... excessive. She'll just wait for him to stop. She's a patient person.]

Sorry. [He says, catching his breath as the laughter subsides.] It's just-- That's fucking perfect, you know? [No, she probably doesn't, Andrew. Because she doesn't know your goofy ass, yet.]

[Her glance is a curious one, because she definitely doesn't know.]

I do? [She frowns.] I don't think I do.

Right. [He stops laughing and finally catches his breath.] We're gonna get along great, that's all. So uh- how do you like it so far?

[fistpump]

I've been here for about a week? I mean, in this world for a few years, but this castle thing not very long at all. I haven't formed opinions other than it's really big.

[ drink in hand, thea strolls up to felicity with all the confidence, like she owns the place. ]

Hi.

[ what she really wants to ask is "are you banging my brother???" but she refrains at the moment. she's had a few drinks though, this restraint might not last long. ]

Thea! [She wants to hug her, but it's not something they've ever done, so she just folds her arms over her chest and smiles at her.]

I can't believe you're here. [Which is you know, a lie (bluff 16) because she knew she was here the moment her name pinged on the search. But details...]

It's crazy, right? I mean, who knew an IT girl would end up in a place like this... [Heh... that's all she is. An IT girl. Keeping that bluff check rolling.]

Less weird than me and Oliver. [ because they're just rich assholes, not badass martial artists and expert marksmen and swordsmen. nope. thea can pretend to be just a pretty privileged princess just like oliver can.

except for the part where she doesn't know ollie is pretending. ]

Speaking of... this is a little too coincidental. Stalkery coincidental. [ she glances over at her brother across the room. ] Can I assume the stellar IT girl had something to do with that or would that be grasping at straws?

[ she tried to look for oliver but it just made her sad when she failed. ]

[fistpump]

[Felicity laughs.]

It is a bit odd, but considering the things I've seen since showing up here? I think it's sort of safer for everyone.

[She glances around.] He can survive an island, sure, but this place is a bit different than that island.

I told him what I had planned and that I thought he could use his survival skills to some good. Maybe even learn something about self-defense. [It's really odd for her to talk about Oliver not being able to handle himself.]

[ said with a dry, fond exasperation: ] Get him drunk enough and he'll probably prove he can throw a punch.

[Felicity laughs, it's more amused than nervous - because it's funny to think that anyone could look at Oliver and not trust he'd be able to at least throw a punch. But - that's Oliver.]

Well, it'll be entertaining no matter what.

That's one word for it. [ she turns slightly to survey the rest of the room before reflexively rubbing her wrists. she continues looking away from felicity as she quietly asks a question she know she won't get a straight answer about if she'd asked oliver. ]

How is he?

[Felicity glances to Thea and smiles.]

He's better now that he knows you're safe, too.

[Oh, David wouldn't say that. It may not be an explosive collar, but he did wind up in a harpy's nest once. It's not a pleasant experience.

Still, David tries to greet all of the new squires at these things, so he'll make his way over with a small smile.]

Congratulations.

[Smiling, Felicity lifts her glass.]

Thanks. It's -- it's weird to be surrounded by people who are looking at me like I'm going to just pick up a sword and stab something.

Well, to be fair, that is what a good chunk of us do on a regular basis.

[Considering the Hide is the largest sect in the castle and all that.]

And these parties can be ... eventful, sometimes.

[It takes him a minute to be confused about why she was correcting herself, before the obvious answer to that occurs to him (wisdom 11).]

Right. So I take it they're not your weapon of choice?

No, definitely not. I am usually very much behind the scenes. Over an earpiece. That sort of thing.

So you're looking to head to the Hoard? They're usually the research and technology end of things.
