Two months.

[which give his attitude seems like a little extreme and he realizes that and before he can get the "bitch what is wrong with you" talk, he adds, a bit defensively:] It wasn't my first go-round with somethin' like that, all right?

It coulda been worse. Most of 'em in there didn't know what the hell was goin' on and probably broke so bad, they ain't gonna come out of it.

[The unspoken part is that at least he came out of it knowing what to expect and knowing that deep down, he deserved it. It's hardwired into him and no matter how hard he denies it or remains sensitive about it, the fact that he wasn't any better than some of the shit Sarandis made in that lab is going to stick with him. Unlike the others though, it's always been a part of him. He can deal with it.] Not like some guy who came in with half a freakin' hardware store where his skeleton oughta be.

[He pulls down the collar of his shirt to show the metal brackets. ] Like I said back there, ain't nobody born with that much metal in their body.

[ he glances over, studying the brackets out of the corner of his eye, recognizing exactly what rocket's laying down.

after a beat, he rests his elbow on the bar, and with a snikt extends the blades between his knuckles abruptly. ] Believe me. I know.

[Rocket snorts and picks up his refilled drink.] Heh. I thought I had you pegged back there.

[ the claws retract again and he flexes his fist once ] Let's just say I had my own reasons for wanting to watch that place burn.

And instead of holdin' you back 'cause you got an emotional investment in it, your boss sent you right into it and looked the other way. I knew that guy had a dark heart where it counted.

Maybe he thought it'd be cathartic.

[shruuug. he goes back to his liquor.] It was pretty cathartic for me.

More likely he just didn't want to send anyone who'd go all soft once we were in there.

Accurate. I might have kneecapped anyone who thought this was a situation for touchy-feely ethical debate.

[he stands by what he said in there. if those scientists never went back to their families and burned for what they did, he'd sleep fine at night.]

And now they're dead. And the world was a better place for it.

[He knocks back the rest of his drink, pausing for a moment to take in the reality of the situation. Every so often, it hits him anew.] I'm so freakin' glad it's over.

[snort.] I can't get behind everything bein' peaceful forever, anyway. I'll enjoy things more when I can start shootin' again.
