So if they're heart-broken or doubting him, or angry with him - odds are she's probably not enchanted?

Exactly. It's still awful, but it's not... [ she trails off, unable to put a name to the feeling that she still struggles with years later. ] As awful as it could be.

[Cora nods for a moment, and it doesn't take much for her to figure out that Lila's talking from a place of experience (sense motive 17). She appreciates it, which is why she doesn't needle her further about it.]

[She pauses before making a face.]

A lot of other stuff that's not really getting me anywhere.

[There's bupkis on Barrick and werewolves and paladins is mostly the same information over and over again, so she's just getting frustrated by a lot of dead ends.]

There's no real information on this idol that was part of my last mission and everything on werewolves and paladins is basically saying the same thing.

Idol? [ hmm intrigue. she doesn't really care about the werewolf/paladin stuff so she just latches on to the one word she has a vague investment in. stupid audrey. ]

[She nods.]

Barrick the Glutton, or something like that. Some cult was trying to use it to unleash candy golems all over a Halloween street party.

[bittersweeter]

Not something like that, that's what he's called. [ wis 19, she remembers. ] His idol was stolen from the Peterson house in April. Him and Ventyr, the Emaciated. By these creepy psychopaths called the Children of Chaos. [ she makes a face. ew. ]

[Her head tips to the side to look at her again, eyes narrowing slightly as she does.]

Were you on the Peterson mission?

Uh-huh. [ dis face. she didn't enjoy it. but her hand creeps up to cradle her necklace. there was one good thing. ]

[She shifts slightly in her chair, turning more of her attention on Lila.]

We were just on a mission where the idol was used. Those Children of Chaos people used it to unleash an army of candy golems on this Halloween party downtown.

Technically, it's called a fetish. If you're googling or whatever.

[ LOOK, DETAILS MIGHT BE IMPORTANT. ]

That is... pretty chaotic, which seems to be fitting considering their moniker. They do like to make a spectacle. What else happened?

[She shrugs a bit.]

They took over a candy factory and created some candy zombies and then headed to the block party. We talked to the guys we managed to capture and they gave us the name of their leader.

Nicholas St. Andrew. Sociopath and sneaky criminal, smart enough to make other people do his bidding. He was the mastermind behind the Peterson thing, too.

[She nods.]

Yeah, that's what Wynn said. I was just trying to see if we could find out anything more about the idol that might figure out why he decided to use that beyond "starting chaos."

Hmm. [ she mulls that over. she's always assumed there was a bigger picture and this all but proves it. ] I'll look into it to, let you know what I find out.

[ but then amara's life will distract her a while SO ITS GONNA HAVE TO WAIT TBH. ]

[THAT'S FINE. In the meantime, Lydia and Cora will go off on book searching adventures. You prepare for your underwater mission, Lila.]
