It's alright. I know how he comes off. [He looks down at the ground briefly.] I also know him better than anyone else in the whole world, so I know that most people don't get to see past that. Or don't try to.
He cares more about other people than anyone else I know. The person he cares about the least is himself.

I mean, you can't really blame him for hesitating to get close to people, lay down roots. Not when he's lost every single person he's ever cared about the way he has.
