Well, I'm not a telepath. [ Gosh, Cora. ] I suggest you hope for a middle-aged shop owner presently dissatisfied with his marriage. [ And into the first store they go. ]

[Cora's mouth draws into a wry almost smirk as she follows her in, glancing around as she goes. Right off the bat there's nothing particularly interesting but she'll just let Lydia do the talking.]

[ The good news is that the shop owner is a 42-year-old man with greying hair and a ring finger lacking in even the hint of a tan line. Thx d100. While Cora noses around for the books that are already out, Lydia approaches him, and before long, she's invited herself behind the counter, leaning on it and chatting with a winning smile about Dostoevsky (charm 31). But as she reaches out to touch his hand on the counter, he pulls it back, straightening and scowling. Dat nat 20 will save tho. ]

[Alas alack. But while Lydia is doing that, Cora is going to start browsing the stacks, trying to see what happens to catch her eye and falls in line with what she's looking for. She's going slowly and carefully, but she also may not be sure what she's looking for (search 12, spot 18).]

[ Cora turns up similarly empty just as Lydia disengages from the shopkeeper and approaches in a huff. ]

He's not helping us find anything. Come on; let's go.

[Cora nods and turns to follow her, glancing down at the next name on the list.]

Maybe we'll have better luck with the next one.

[Time to get the map and figure out where to go next.]

It's going to take days to get through all of these.

[ But all the same, she climbs into the driver's seat with a nat 20 drive check. ]

[Yeah, this time Cora isn't all that great with the navigating. She's not as familiar with this part of London (navigate 7). Once she's pretty sure they're somewhat lost, she's reaching for her phone for the GPS (computer use 13).]

I think we missed a left somewhere.

You told me to keep heading East!

[ And so begins the bickering, which definitely makes the whole thing take a whole lot longer than it ever should have. Regardless, they're competing with Helen and the whole of the Hoard's research skills: there's little to find, even out in the tiny bookshops that do allow them a look into their private collections. ]
