So you been doing this stuff long then?

I've been here almost ... holy shit almost two years now? Longest I've probably stayed anywhere.

Seriously? Two years? And you haven't ended up dead or something? [ That does seem to be a theme. ]

[She laughs sharply at that.]

You know, there are some people here who have survived working for us for decades even.

[ Her first experience of the place has been Andres, let's just say her opinion is maybe a bit skewed. ]

Yeah? Seriously?

[Fair enough. If that were Felicity's first mission, she'd probably be a little biased too.]

Yeah. The rate of survival isn't as awful as you think.

Suppose that's good then. Not really sure why people would bother sticking around otherwise. Oath or not. I don't have a death wish.

Trust me, none of us do.

[They all want to live. Except when things are really shitty, maybe not so much, but no, generally speaking they will do whatever it takes to live.

They just happen to be prepared to die too.]

So what do you do around here then? Or there I guess. I mean like do you have a thing? Computers or something?

[allmydreams]

I'm a freelancer, so not having a thing is ... actually our thing. But I used to work in acquisitions before I joined up.

[arrested]

Freelance? Freelance doing what?

[allmydreams]

Whatever the missions require?

[She shrugs.]

Each of the sects has their own thing. Freelancers are for the people who don't fit into a sect.

So you just freelance at everything then?

[allmydreams]

Pretty much. We fill in the gaps that no one else can.

[arrested]

Like what?

[ Yep, she's waiting for examples. ]

[She pauses for a moment before shrugging.]

Infiltration. Investigative work. Or they're good at a little bit of everything, so you don't want to sideline them completely into one sect - like someone who kicks a lot of ass and can be diplomatic when needed, but also has magic for healing and firepower. Why stick them in one group? Why not have them in a sect where they can do a little bit of everything?

So like a spy or something?

[ Ok maybe that's not quite a spy, but it's damn near close enough to her. Sounds like something off a tv show. ]

[She considers for a moment before nodding and shrugging.]

Close enough.

So does a spy buy drinks? Cus I need another one, yeah?

Absolutely.
