Well, to put you mind at ease, I support the Mets, not the Yankees, so as long as we just don't talk during football season, I think we'll be fine.

Eh, I don't even like football. I mean, I don't really like baseball either. Or basketball... I'm not really big into sports. We were hockey fans, but my dad grew up a Maple Leafs fan, so -- [ she shrugs, now taking human sized bites of the sandwich. ] -- we hate our team as much as everyone else.

So did you like apprentice at a Jewish deli or are you just naturally gifted at the art of sandwich making?

All the time. But my family is usually here, so it's not that bad. Plus with missions to keep me busy, you don't get a lot of time to think about it.

I'm still working on that part. My family is all back in Boston and I'm the only one here. [ which is why she spent nearly a month back home for the holidays. ]

[Her family is Gus. It's pretty easy for her to be wherever her family is.]

Do you get to talk to them a lot?

My brother and I skype maybe once a week? I just spent a few weeks down there for Christmas. My dad's like an old man, though, he is afraid of technology. I mean, he hates the GPS. She's rude and condescending and for Pete's sake Madelyn I know how to drive! [ she rolls her eyes, but the smile on her face gives way how much she loves her family. ]

I am and they are. Borderline psychotic sometime, but they're pretty great.

That's probably true, it's like how everyone's got the black sheep. Which would be me, of course.

Something like that, yeah. One side of the family I'm too good for, the other side - not good enough no matter what I do. But I said goodbye to that side a long time ago.
