[Considering they impersonate the FBI on the daily, practically, coming up with a crazy one is harder than it should be.]

We had to recover the black box from a plane crash once, so we had to impersonate Homeland Security in order to get access. That was a little over-the-top, even for us.

What the hell did you need the black box for?

Our buddy wanted to look at it, and we needed to inspect the wreckage. Normally, a guy can't open up an airplane door at thirty thousand feet, and when we found sulfur in the plane, we assumed it was...a demonic possession.

[Here we go.]

[Her eyebrows lift]

That something you two came across a lot?

Not too often. Demons were pretty rare, though they did come up from time to time, and usually they're a little less...obvious.

Keep their horns to themselves? [She's just being a smart ass now.]

They actually...don't have horns. They look more like black clouds of smoke until they steal a body. Back home, anyway.

Steal a body, huh? So anyone could be a demon?

There are ways to tell if someone's possessed, but yeah. I was possessed by one once. My Dad, too.

So how would I know you aren't now?

Holy water or salt would do the trick. Without those, well, I guess technically you wouldn't. It would have had to cross the Veil, though, so I think you're safe.

You think so? Glad to hear that I can relax. [In his bed. Like she already is.]

Is that why you joined the Knights? To fight demons?

[His eyebrows raise slightly.]

They say demons aren't real here.

Have you seen some of the crazy shit we go up against? Just because they don't call them demons doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

They think they don't exist because most people can't see them.

Most? [Oh, that's interesting. This continues to get better.] So I'm guessing you can see them.

I, uh, yeah. It runs in my family.

You've got a brother here, right? So he can see them too?

Yeah. His name's Dean. I wouldn't talk to him about it, though. It's not exactly a very...light topic.

Why's that? [Shes just going to keep digging in. Now she's invested in finding out something good.]

Because they've basically killed every friend or family member we've ever had.

[Some frustration seeps into his tone at that pretty shitty will save.]

So is that what you two are doing here? Looking for revenge?

Huh? No. It's not like that. We just know that we've got a pretty specific skill set, things that would be useful in a place like this. It's kind of hard to start working a 9-5 job when you've seen the things we have.

How noble. [She's not quite sure if she's being serious or sarcastic. It's a toss up.] And I'm guessing Wynn knows all about your background, so he can send you on all the demon filled missions, hm?

He doesn't really believe in them, I don't think.
