So are you from the Shadow World?

Yes and no. I came through the Veil, but I'm not from Faerun. I'm actually originally from Chicago, and then a place called Everworld.

Where in Chicago? [ she swings the meteor hammer into the dummy again, like punctuation for her question. ]

Don't really remember. But it was a suburb, I think.

[That's not just the Veil talking, things from the Old World got a bit hazy after a while.]

Oh. [ lame. that is boring and unexciting, so she turns to the other topic. ]

And what is Everworld?

[Here we go.]

When people stopped believing in the old school gods - Zeus, Loki, Thor, all of that - they decided that they would simply leave and create their own world where they would be worshiped forever. So they took a few key followers and all the magic the Old World possessed, and made Everworld. It's probably a lot like Faerun, actually, save for a few key differences.

[Namely the pantheon and the fact that if they have enough magic, they can pass between worlds.]

Wasn't as fun as it sounds. The believers that they brought with them never moved past that level of technology. No indoor plumbing, no communications, no questions. They all just obediently obeyed their god of choice without question, even if they were starving and suffering.

Well... that sucks, but being the gods was probably awesome.

Not exactly. See, after a while they started to let other gods in. Figured that there were plenty of human sacrifices to go around - what could it hurt? Turns out Ka Anor wasn't interested in feeding on the humans.

He wanted to feed off the gods.

Ew! Gross! [ she says that, but she still looks super into this story. violence, death, gods eating gods. awesome. ] What is Ka Anor god of? Cannibalism.

Probably more like carrion. He was made up of dozens of flying insects and his followers, the Hetwan? All giant bug people. Kind of gross.

Ugh! That's even more gross. What the fuck kind of fucked up world was he from?

Never asked. Wasn't really sure I wanted the answer. I just know it was not from Everworld.

I suppose that makes Everworld decent at least. [ sorry, david, she's never not going to think it's cool. she does, however, think ka anor is crap. ]
