School spirit is very important.

I wonder if they'll ever make me take the GED...

[She tips her head to the side for a moment.]

Do you want to take the GED?

[She shrugs her shoulders.]

I'm not sure a high school diploma will do me any extra good.

[She gives a bit of a shrug.]

Maybe not. In the grand scheme of things, it's not like you need it to get a job.

[There's a pause for something more reflective.]

But if there's something you wanted for you. For ... I don't know - the pride in completing it, or something - there's nothing wrong with that either.

I guess I've never really thought about it. I mean, for a lot of people, it might feel like closing a chapter on their life, but I don't remember anything about it, so I'm not sure it would feel like anything. The only reason I even know I never finished was because Ric told me.

[He's also the only reason she knows she has a brother. It's weird, honestly.]

[Kate knows that boat well. While she seems to have figured out that she was some kind of cop, she doesn't really know anything else about her life beyond the fact that she was born on November 17th and lived in New York. She can't put her finger on whether it's better or worse that Elena has someone from home because as much as Kate craves answers to who she was before the Veil, she isn't sure if they would really change anything.]

I assume I did, but I don't really know either. Everything before the Veil is a great big blank.

Same here. People show up from home, and I sort of remember them, but not much beyond their name. They've told me things here and there, but mostly I...just don't want to know. I don't want to miss what I can't have back.

[They try to tell her who she is, who she loves, what she cares about, and she's not even the same person she was when she first crossed over. Too much has changed.]

[She nods for a moment before shrugging.]

I don't like the questions. About who I was. If I had a family. I'd want the facts, but I wouldn't want to know the details.

[Especially if it's something she couldn't feel for them in return.]

[Elena nods in agreement.]

Yeah, exactly. We've had to move on because we had no other choice.

[She chews on the inside of her cheek thoughtfully.]

Whoever I was on the other side of the Veil? That person died in that car accident. It's better if I leave it like that.

[She nods because she gets that. They're scars without answers to them, but they can't have those unanswered questions keep them from moving forward.]

Besides - people change. It's a natural part of life.

[She manages a chuckle at that.]

Some of us more than others.
