This is what I'm good at, Helen. Before this, I tagged along and everyone had to make sure poor fragile Elena didn't get hurt.

I don't want to be that person. I want what I do to make a difference. I don't care if the things I have to do are dark or shady or 'morally gray.' I'm not ashamed of that.

I already know I'm worth more than just my ability to change my face. I'm not the one that needs to be convinced of that. But I'm still going to be what I have to be and do what I have to do to get the job done.

[She keeps quiet, letting Elena have her say and making sure she doesn't interrupt. There's a moment more where she just lets silence pass between them.]

All I want to be sure of is that you're doing this for you. Not because you feel like you need to, not because you built for it, but because this is what you want to do.

[She chews on the inside of her cheek for a moment, looking like she wants to say something, but it takes time for her to actually spit it out.]

Do you think it's wrong to want to feel powerful?

Not at all. In fact, I think that's natural. But the trick is to make sure we don't take that desire too far.

I just wish the line was easier to see.

By being concerned about it at all? I know that you're still on the right side of it. [She offers Elena a small smile and reaches out a hand to rest on the woman's shoulder.]

Struggling to know how far to go? To keep a hold of humanity and compassion while still doing all you can to keep yourself and those you love safe? That's what makes us different from being like Sarandis and his lot. [The hand on Elena's shoulder moves to cup her cheek.]

You've come so far, and I doubt any of it has been easy. But through it all, you haven't lost sight of who you are. You've changed, of course, but I can still see you. You can wear a thousand faces, my dear, but I'll always see you.

[With a hideous will save, Elena's lips press together just after the begin to quiver just slightly, and moments later she's practically throwing her arms around Helen's neck and hugging her tightly.

No words, just hugs. Helen is the best not!Mom.]

[Helen will just wrap her up in a tight hug, holding on for as long as Elena needs.]

[After a little while, she lets go. She's not teary or anything when she pulls back, she just look content and confident instead as she pulls it together (will save 30).]

Though I'm going to need more practice if you can actually see through my disguises.

You've done very well. I'm so proud of how far you've come.
