February in Romania isn't very comfortable, so hopefully everyone bundled up for this little trip into the countryside.  The appearance of a mysterious bank of fog into which several locals have gone inexplicably missing upon entering, has caused Wynn to speculate that it might be connected to the mist that appears when the Veil brings people from other worlds.  Could this be the first instance of a door going the other way?  If so, here's hoping it's a round trip...

[ he grabs one of the sticks and moves to plant it in the ground, nodding for the others to do the same while will and aurelius fiddle with the readout ]

[UGH FINE. HELPING. nathan grabs a stick, gets close to aurelius, and decides to brighten his day with] D'ya reckon one of these would fit up an anus?

[With computer use of 23 and knowledge technology of 28, I just assume that Willow becomes an expert on this device while they are setting up the sticks. She pauses briefly to glance up at Nathan and look horrified.]

[Paige pulls her whip out and cracks it on the ground... probably nowhere near Nathan, because she rolled an 8 attack, but SHE WASN'T TRYING TO HIT HIM SO IT'S OKAY. She just wanted the crack noise to get his attention.] Leave the poor boy alone. I'm not above giving you a good switching.

[nathan laughs with shocked glee.] Shit!! I didn't realize we had a dominatrix in our ranks!

[Paige awkwardly rolls her whip back up so she can attach it to her hip, still beet red.]

[Willow will just turn the machine on to try to... forget about ... what just happened.]

[nathan puts the stick in the ground and stops trying to torture ppl. bless.]

[ Thinking it wise to just not say anything at all - and also hiding his expression of partial horror because Why an anus? - after Henry gets his stick planted in the ground, he clears his throat and straightens, folding his arms loosely over his chest. ]

[ when they draw near enough to the fog line to plant the sticks, they'd each feel a chill of dread creep up their spine as they found themselves sensing the cold radiating off from the mist. for all the times in their lives that they've walked through fog, they would find this particularly surreal - as it doesn't move away in front of them, but rather sits there firmly in place, almost like a wall.

aurelius and willow spool up the machinery, and soft red lights flicker up at the tops of each pole. numbers began flashing across the readout, and there's a soft beeping noise intermittently as it transmits all the data it's picking up instantly back to knights hq. willow is able to interpret the data more or less as it scrolls by, enough to recognize that something is very, very weird here. this is something some very powerful magic, enough to be pretty much throwing off the machine, going beyond what it's capable of registering. ]

[Paige backs away from the wall of mist, frowning deeply, as her hand goes to her cleric symbol pinned to her chest.] D-do you feel that?

It's like a boner, but ... all over.

Uh-- we may have a problem. I think this juju is too big for this equipment. [She glances to Aur.] See these readings? They're all over the place.

So it... it really could be the Veil, couldn't it? We might be the first people to actually set eyes on it this way.

This would be way more incredible if it didn't feel really...unsettling. [ He hasn't stepped back because there's not any danger, it's just not the most pleasant feeling. But it's also fleeting. ]

Not unless you don't wanna come out again. [if paige were a meaner person, she'd probably BE ALL ABOUT NATHAN JUMPING BLINDLY INTO IT, but she's not.

She drops her backpack on the ground and rifles through it until she finds her rope.] And if we have to go into it, someone should tie this around their waist and only go a little ways in just to see.

[because the magic of the Veil can be defeated by rope.]
