The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Her disguise check slides in at a 13, but she's still limited by her actual closet and knowledge of how to dress for a party. Jean shorts and a peasant blouse get the studded boots treatment. The moment she enters though - she realizes she might have underestimated the level of dressing up she should have done.

Not that she figures it matters - she's the only Squire that is being celebrated. They should be okay with it.]

[Cora has a squire.

It's the only reason why she's at this party (eventually, she will have a reason to stop coming to these things but that month is not this month), and she actually looks pretty decent (disguise 17), because she wants to make a good first impression but beyond that she doesn't really know much about her.

She knows her name, and she knows that she's a shifter, but beyond that, it's all a big blank. She takes a few steps closer before giving her a small smile that's fairly awkward because she doesn't really know what she's doing.]

Malia?

[Obviously, given that she was the only squire this time.]

[It does make things a little easier on everyone else, but for Malia she's a bucket of questions ready to be emptied out. Thankfully, she heard the approach (listen 16) and can turn around to smile at Cora. She'd heard that Cora Hale would be her mentor and curiosity of course has the better of her.]

Yes. That's me. Malia. You're Cora Hale, right? [She doesn't even wait for the reply before she's digging into the last name.] Are you from Beacon Hills?

[And there's some blinking there because that is not the question she was expecting, but she nods all the same. Yep, that seems to be a theme among the knights here.]

Yeah. I'm Derek's sister.

[There's a beat.]

I fell through the Veil before I got back to there, though.

Sister. Right. [Malia nods.]

Back to Beacon Hills? [It would explain why she never met her.]

We don't know each other. Just - so it's not awkward. [Because this isn't already awkward, right?]

[Nope. Totally not awkward at all, but a little bit of that tension goes out of her when she says that. Good. No need to ask questions about a relationship she hasn't even gotten off the ground yet.]

Right. But you know Derek. And you know Scott? I think that's the alpha there.

[Actually, she really knows that (wisdom 21), but she doesn't want to seem like she has more information than she actually does. That would be weird and creepy.]

[More nodding from Malia.]

Yes, Scott's the alpha and I know Derek, too. [She's not sure if she should explain what's happened with Derek, so she bottles that up with the 'Hi, we're related.' part of her story.]

I'm -- I'm a werecoyote. [She hopes that isn't an issue.] I was a coyote for a while... so I'm not very good at all of the were-stuff. [She brightens up, a bit hopeful.] I'm getting better, though. Stiles helps me.

[Okay. So she knows Derek and Stiles, that's a few points in her direction. The only other people she knows from home are Jackson and Allison and ... ]

Stiles is here. Lydia too, if you know her and Liam? Derek was, but ... I haven't seen him in a while.

[She really should ask Wynn about that, but she isn't really sure she wants to know the answer there.]

I can help you with the were-stuff though. There are actually a lot of us here - not all from our world, but close enough.

[She nods at the list of names, though naturally she does smile a bit when she hears Stiles' name. It's a relief that he's here. She needed him to be here.]

Help me? How? Do you have chains?

[ well, thea didn't dress up much either. she still looks ballin' (disguise 19), but in a lazy kind of way. anyway, cora is one of her few friends (???) here and since she has a squire, thea figures she can check her out. ]

Hey, you're Malia, right? Cute shirt.

[She turns and smiles, trying to be as approachable as possible.]

Yes and thank you. It was clean. [Malia glances around.] Is it always this formal? I'll be better prepared next time.

[ "it was clean" is the cutest thing and thea bites back a soft smile. ]

I've only been to one, but yeah, that seems to be the case. There's a huge dressing room with racks of clothes though if you don't have anything that fits the bill.

It's right up those stairs. [ she points to the ones in the back. ]

[Malia looks the direction that she's pointing and nods.]

Thank you. [She smiles again, because that's supposed to be polite when people help you.]

So you're Cora's new squire. [ not much of a question, but it's leading. ]

Yes. [She states it so matter of fact.]

Do you know Cora?

[Stiles likes these parties. He especially likes them when he manages to get nat 20 sexy for the night. The fact that it's only a party for one squire doesn't seems to bother him at all. He's looking fly as hell.]

Hey. [He says as he finds the new girl.] Welcome to the knighthood.

[He has no clue who she is. Whoops.]

[She's excited to see him. Immediately on his arrival, she reaches for his hands and gives them a squeeze.]

Hi! They told me you were here. Cora did. It's okay, though, because I didn't tell her about Peter.

[Then she barely takes a breath, before she glances at him.]

You look really nice.

[He blinks. Opens his mouth. Shuts it. Blinks again.]

...What?

[animalistic]

[She stares at him. Did she do something wrong? Maybe she said the wrong word.]

What part was confusing? Maybe I picked the wrong word.

You just- [He is so confused.]

Do you know me or something?

Yes. I know you very well.

[She realizes that might not have been enough information.]

I was having dinner with your dad before I showed up here. You were handcuffed to the desk and he took me for pizza. [Her brow furrows.] You don't know me?

[He just shakes his head, dumbly trying to process this information as best he can.]

I'm uh- missing some of my memories. Mostly people. My dad, for one. And someone named Scott, I guess? And you. I don't remember you.

Scott's your best friend. [She says it as if she's trying to fill in some empty space for him, solve the puzzle.]

But if you don't remember things -- if you don't remember me then you can't help me with my shift. [Her hand slowly slides from his, but she doesn't step away from him, she just felt as if she shouldn't be doing that anymore.]
