With most of the team staunchly convinced that about to go check out Area 51, they head off to Guadalajara, Mexico, to investigate local rumors of a crash site outside the city. One of the best things about this little trip is that even in February, it's in the seventies, so there's definitely a vacation air to arriving in the bustling city. They'll need to rent a car and head out in the direction of the supposed crash in the flat countryside. It's a fourteen hour flight so get comfortable.

[ so much blood. oh well. kali's lips purse thoughtfully as alex and carol deal with the guards, maybe she's debating whether or not the idea of spontaneous amateur ocular surgery would be frowned upon or not. (spoilers, she is.) ]

The spell would be good anyway. [ at least malina could maybe get a second of reprieve from people shooting at her if they think she's one of the guards. ] But we'll still need the eye. An eye.

[ Conveniently, the door slides open—eye or no eye. On the other side, Peter and Skye are shoulder-to-shoulder, Skye with her phone in one hand, a military issue gun in the other, and a bruise across her jaw that looks like it's getting worse, and a bloody lip to accompany it.

Looking out over the landscape of security guards, she looks surprised—SO MUCH FOR WAITING, Y'ALL—but she quickly gets back to task and looks them over. ] We found the ship. I don't know about you guys, but I'm all full-up on sight-seeing, so— [ She steps aside, gesturing with her phone for them to file in through the door. ]

[Malina's eyes go wide and there's a bit of relief because she was definitely worried about the civilians being taken out of her custody, but since they mostly seem to be okay, she'll ease up.

Not a lot, but enough.

She nods before turning back to the rest of the group.]

Finish up with them and come on.

[She then turns back to Skye.]

You alright?

[Carol shoots them a grin, glancing over at Peter especially because she doesn't know Skye, but this is just about what she expected of him. He was never going to stay in custody for long.]

Took you long enough.

[She finishes tying up the guards (dex 19) and flies over to the rest of the group.]

Now let's blow this thing and go home.

[alex goes over to join the rest of the team, and also wonders to himself why carol feels the need to fly across the room?????? but he passed his asshole check not to say his thoughts out loud. he is also feeling pretty impressed with skye as he previous thought she was just a homeless hacker ragamuffin.]

I hope we plan on flying it out. [he's so there for it ok]

[ kali unceremoniously drops gomez. bye guy. her eyes skate over skye like a momma cat checking her kitten for injuries. idk why i rolled a spot check, but i did and it's a 35 so, you know, she now knows all the injuries and whether or not skye has split ends or something. ]

[ Aww, Kali. The bruise on her jaw looks like the only injury Skye's got. If she sustained any others, they're hidden beneath her jeans and baggy tank-top. Skye looks between Malina and Kali, who she's decided are winning points for actually caring instead of being TOTALLY CAVALIER ABOUT ALL OF THIS like Alex and Carol. ]

The government just tried to disappear us because we tried to give Peter his ship back. Nothing about this is alright. [ In case Alex was getting too impressed, Skye lets a flustered moment of panic slip through. She glances around, worried. ] And we are not making any friends here. We don't have long before they realize their boss is gone.

[ She looks between all of them, then points down the hall, then starts down it as she explains, ] According to the base schematics, there's a garage down this way. I should be able to open the bay door remotely for Peter to fly us out if we can get there.

I think we have less time until someone finds the guards that we had to tie up. [ she leans over to gently tap peter's shoulder though, curious. ] I thought you said flying would be a problem, since you crashed. I remember that conversation. I was there. [ in case anyone needs a recap, she adds: ] Then we started talking about Alyssa Milano.

Either way, let's move. If need be I can probably help with the flying. [She hopes that doesn't mean flying it out by herself so much as helping to guide it from the outside, but she'll do what she has to. She looks over at Malina.]

Did you say you have a spell to make you look like someone else? Might be a good time to look like the boss. Could buy us a second or two, at least.

[She considers that for a moment before nodding. It's definitely worth a shot.]

I can't talk once I cast it our I will blow the illusion, and I sure as hell don't speak Spanish, so better hope that she's got these boys trained to cow under a stern glare.

[And with that she will cast Disguise Self on herself to look like the director in question, just as they saw her earlier (disguise 26, will save DC 15 to see through the illusion). She then raises an eyebrow in the rest of their direction like "shall we go?"]

[ WOULD Y'ALL STOP WAITING AROUND SKYE ALREADY STARTED WALKING DOWN THE HALL I GUESS SHE'S WALKING ALONE. ]

[ KALI IS FOLLOWING. she's fast enough to catch up after five seconds anyway. her glance to see who malina ultimately chose garners some compliments. in spanish. ]

Ella es muy bonita y siniestra. It's so hard to get blood out of that kind of fabric. Especially white.

[Malina smirks slightly because she can hazard a guess that there is a compliment in there somewhere, but she will just start making her way forward after them with her most purposeful strut, trying to exude intimidation with every step so as they aren't bothered (intimidate 21).]

[ they head down into a shiny hallway, and then peter nods down a corridor that offshoots from it. the corridor looks lined with cells, and one of the doors has a chair keeping the handle propped shut. ] Should be obvious but uh... don't open that.

[ she bounces on her toes as she walks, rubbing at some bloodstains on her shirt. rude, gomez. ]

It was supposed to lay groundwork for a musical about Ziggy Stardust, a fictional rocker in a world where nobody cares about rock and roll anymore, but the show never happened.

[Malina nods to Skye in return, continuing to make her way down the hall and scanning for anything incoming as well, but she's got a lot going on right now so she's not being as thorough as eagle eye Kali is (spot 13).]

[ up ahead, there's a single closed door at the end of the hall. peter looks to skye. ] Let me guess. That way?

[ Skye affirms it with a nod, plugging away at the schematics pulled up on her phone to slide the door open for them as they approach (computer use 28). When they reach it, she steps aside for Malina to pass through first—all things considered, it seems like the obvious call. ]

[Malina nods in return before striding her way inside, letting her eyes scan the room as she goes (spot 8 action point says nat 20), looking for any sign of anything that could be trouble. She'll move a few steps ahead of them and once she's sure the coast is clear, she'll gesture for them to follow her.]

[ the coast is decidedly not clear. beyond the door is a wide concrete hangar, mostly full of more vehicles, but in the center of it sits the rather scuffed up milano on some sort of hoist. the truck that must have delivered it is parked nearby, and a spot check of 28 might notice the fact that the ground around it has a square shaped crack all the way around it, as if it can raise and lower. far above, the ceiling has a large split in it as well, sealed for now.

the place is full of what look like engineers and scientists, probably about eight of them total. a number of computer banks line the wall, and they seem to be running schematics on the ship.

peter shoulders past malina, drawing up one of his guns. ] NOBODY MOVE! [ intimidate 20??? which seems to rattle just about everyone in the room, since they mostly raise their hands, eyes wide with surprise ]

[ oh look! people. immediately stepping in front of skye, 100% momming her by putting her arm out to stop the woman from trying to step around her, kali nudges alex lightly and nods over to malina, whispering under her breath: ] Take her hostage.

[ (knowledge tactics 18) it feels like a smart move and since malina can't talk it will effectively keep her out of the line of fire. she doesn't think scientists will shoot through their boss just to get to alex. ]
