Two bodies have been found in downtown London, likely the victims of attacks by some sort of Shadow creature. To prevent a panic, the police are investigating the matter as a dog attack and a potential robbery, while slipping the case under the table to Wynn and his Knights to look into further. Whatever did this is big, nasty, and seems to have taken down the victims without their even struggling. For now, the team is splitting up to look into the crime scenes more closely.

[Helen will get all up close and personal with the body while Will does his weird space out thing. She pulls out some gloves and gets to poking and prodding. Not sure what to roll tho. If it's treat injury she got 32. If it's knowledge life science it's 31]

[Meanwhile, Sam will do a quick search of the crime scene and the surrounding area to see if he can find any additional clues (search 27 or investigate 30, w/e).]

[ sam finds more patches of fur around the area, and helen finds some on the body... a closer examination reveals that it seems to be some kind of relative of a tiger, perhaps? either way, it's definitely the same species, and likely the same animal, as in the other attacks. the body was practically torn in half at the torso, flesh ripped off from it at various places. again, most of the marks on the actual body are bite marks, although claw marks are present, indicating that the victims put up very little resistance or the animal was subduing them somehow while it ... ate them. there's no indication from the blood stains that the body was dragged or carried from where it first fell.

helen finds a tiny needle mark on the remnants of the girl's neck.

will is busy staring emptily into space, imagining this girl walking out here to the pier, folding her arms against the chill, pulling her purse strap up on her shoulder further and pacing in place for a moment. she looks up and sees someone - or something - approaching. someone that maybe she was expecting...? enough to not run, enough to allow them to get close enough to stab a needle into her neck--

dean leans down to poke the purse open carefully with a finger. at this point, jared's phone ring, and he picks it up, stepping away briefly. ]

[Sitting back on her heels while still crouched down, Helen glances up at the others.]

She was injected with something.

[at this point, will snaps out of it and interjects with] I think she was ... expecting it. She didn't run. There's not any sign of a struggle, like she knew what was coming, whatever it was. She allowed it to get close enough to inject a needle into her neck. We should definitely get a tox screen on her.

Do we think whatever mauled her did the injecting, or are we talking about two separate attacks here?

I don't think we can rule either out until we have more information.

[ jared hangs up, pacing back to them as he slides the phone in his pocket.

"That was the lab with the tox screens you asked for on the earlier bodies. The lab found that the other victims all had high levels of sodium pentothol in their bloodstreams. Based on how thoroughly the drug had pervaded the bodies, they're speculating that it was administered several minutes before each mauling."

dean stands up, shooting a look at sam. ] Sodium pentothol? Truth serum?

[Sam nods in confirmation to his brother's words.]

Sometimes it's used to medically induce comas, though it's effect don't last long enough to be used much that way anymore. But it'd probably leave someone out of it long enough to be attacked.

It's probably safe to say that's what was used here, too.

Well, if they're getting shot up with coma juice before chow time, I doubt they're really all that damn willing. So they gotta what, trust the person injecting them and get dicked over for it?

[I've decided Helen's nat 20 likely means she knows the person that first brought it into the medical field.]

Given a high enough dosage, it can be lethal all on its own. [Either way, it doesn't sound good.] There are several ways to use the drug. Treatment for phobias, epileptic seizures- but my best guess is that we're looking at either a sedative to facilitate the murders, or the drug is the murder weapon itself and the gruesome acts that follow are only meant to throw us off the scent.

If there is a cult involved, I'd wager the might be playing a part there. Convincing people to trust them, only to be sacrificed to the slaughter. It certainly wouldn't be the first I've heard of it.

We should look into rituals that require human sacrifice.

Gee, my favorite. [ he looks at sam like SIGH. meanwhile, jared frowns at all this talk, shaking his head.

"You might want to call Wynn, let him know you've connected it to this cult in question. Maybe there's a connection between what they've been doing over the last year - or maybe not, if chaos is really their agenda." ]

Without more to go on, we'll be looking awhile.

[Have an equally exasperated look, Dean. Why is this their life?

He pulls his phone out of his pocket, dialing up the boss-man.]

I got it. See if you guys can find anything we missed.

[Ring ring, Wynn.]

[ he picks up after a few rings ] Yes?

Calling with an update. Looks like The Children of Chaos are connected to these murders. These aren't just random attacks, it looks like they're being set up.

[wynn]

Connected in what capacity?

[familybusiness]

The victims all seem to be members of the cult. Someone is drugging them shortly before the attacks.

[wynn]

To what end?

[familybusiness]

They're using sodium pentothol, more commonly known as truth serum. I'm not sure if it's just to sedate them so they don't run, or if they're being questioned beforehand, but these people have literally been eaten alive without a fight.

It's likely they knew whoever was drugging them, as well. There's no sign of struggle whatsoever.

[wynn]

The police should be able to work up a roster of names of recognized members of the Cult. Tell Chief O'Keefe to have those members tailed for now.

Check the other bodies to make certain that they all fit the profile. I might be able to get us more information on the purpose of these killings, in the meantime.

[familybusiness]

Will do. I think we were headed to the next one in a second here, anyway. I'll ask the Chief for that info before we leave.

[And then he hangs up the phone, turning back to Jared.]

He said you guys should have a list of known cult members? He'd like them tailed for now. [Then he looks at the others.] We need to check out the other crimes scenes, make sure the fit the pattern. Wynn's gonna look into some things while we're doing that.
