Strange transmissions cutting into radio stations with no recognizable source. Mysterious messages in Shadowkind languages that no one's been able to decipher. And very few leads on where to go with all of this, except for a couple names of some of the random citizens who seem to have received the messages. It's hardly much to go on, but definitely an interesting mystery, that takes the small team into the heart of NYC. They arrange their flight to arrive after sundown, for Davin's sake, and he's pretty openly scornful about being assigned to what's likely a wild goose chase.

Okay. [ does that, she puts the phone on speaker so she can text lis'sa the name and address of their lodgings. if they don't have a hotel yet, she freakin' picks one. ] Got it?

[As Alice speaks to whoever is on the other line, something flashes in her eyes, recognition, curiosity, (Wis 19) and as the conversation continues, she turns to look at Davin, voice low.]

Who did you say you guys were with again?

[ as lis'sa confirms by repeating it back, davin glances over at sawyer, hesitating for only a moment. ] We didn't.

[ after assuring lis'sa, perhaps for naught, that they'll make sure they have all information available for her, alice hangs up and turns back to the group, making a face. ]

Enthusiasm, hon, you really should work on the enthusiasm on that one.

[Rather than laugh or appear even remotely surprised by this revelation, the cock of her head marks her as more intrigued than anything else.]

Knights. Like a, secret organisation kind of deal?

[ and she's just gonna step over to the edge of the sidewalk and whistle for a cab, holding her other hand out like SOMEONE PULL OVER! idk if there is a check for that, but if so, she has a 19 whistle. it's one of those obnoxious basketball game whistles, tbh.

[ davin snaps her a sharp look because VAMPIRE HEARING OW ] ... Yes, let's save it for a private location.

[Her expression appears caught between amusement and disbelief, Sawyer letting out a low chuckle until she finally nods her understanding.]

Private, yeah got it. It'll keep.

[ davin lapses into silence in the car ride, like some kind of broody brooder, turning the bunbun over and over in his hands like 8| ]

[ alice just dicks around on her phone tbh. such a grown up with social skills. /unsure EVEN THOUGH SHE'S ANTI-NEW YORK ON PRINCIPLE ALONE... she still snaps a picture of the empire state building when they pass it. ]

[Slides in a trash tag because Sawyer probably wouldn't say much in a cab with the whole, secret squirrel business. She's probably just.... thinking about how much it costs to get her car out of the impound when it gets towed.]

[ what's creepy is that lis'sa is ALREADY THERE INSIDE THEIR HOTEL ROOM WHEN THEY WALK IN AND TURN THE LIGHTS ON. creepy because a) wasn't she just in england and b) why didn't she turn the lights on.

she looks at sawyer immediately when they walk in. ] Who's this.

[ oh lis'sa you.... you. when alice sees lis'sa, she makes a surprised little bleating gasp, before muttering: ] Why do I always forget teleport scrolls are a thing.

[ ANYWAY! ] Her name is Sawyer, she's been helping us out. Davin invited her. [ neatly throws him under the bus. :) ]

[Sawyer looks between Alice, Davin and finally the new chick, looking like she wants to say something more substantial but really only manages a;]

Well that and the whole ominous... get the toy or else thing meant I go where it goes. [Trailing off like did I just get everyone here in trouble? Maybe? Oh well. How about those Knicks, huh?]

[ alice passes over the bunbun to lis'sa, turning to flash sawyer a brief, reassuring smile, before her attention moves back to lis'sa. ]

It's got an camera in the eye, but that's really all I could figure out. I'm not super tech savvy.

I'll see what I can do. [ she takes it to a table, and pulls a small tool kit out of the bag there, as well as her laptop, setting to work. ]

[ well in that case, alice is going to flop on the couch and pull out her phone, googling bunbun to maybe see who owns the company or does the manufacturing or if it's tied to a disney movie. (computer use 14, research 18) ]

[Meanwhile... Sawyer's just going to stand in the middle of the hotel room like, yeah sure, I belong here... pfft.]

So... Knights. [AKA you told me you'd explain more when we got back here.]

[ without looking up from her phone: ] We help people. [ after a second, her eyes flicker up to sawyer and she smiles, half amused, but genuine. ] You can sit down if you want. Want a water? Juice? I have cookies in my bag...

[It's not Sawyer who brightens at the mention of cookies but somebody else, her bag moving as a head peaks out from beneath a flap like 'ohhh did somebody say cookies?!']

I'm good... He'll take you up on the cookies though.

[ everything that she finds seems pretty innocuous tbh: the company that produces it is called Konkgreen, has no history of ties to any sort of bizarre activity that she can find, and manufactures through a company in japan called Soloelectronics. ]

[ hmm. satisfied that it's probably nothing, she chucks her phone on the couch and retrieves a package of famous amos and a juice box from her bag. diabetic life. once the bag is cracked open, she sets it down for the lil' ferret to nose around in.

here goes. ] We're called the Knights of the Silver Dragon and, like I said, we help people. We came to New York specifically because of the weird transmissions that turned out to be about BunBun, in case there was something shady about it.
