The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ sydney looks ungodly bangin' with a 33 disguise check. she's happy to mingle and chat and laugh, but she's mostly keeping a face on. shit's been bothering her ever since that sark guy showed up sporting missing pieces of her history. ]

[Kate is looking not even close, but she still looks nice, deciding to fall on an old staple rather than go all out (disguise 14). She also, however, manages to pick up on something being a little off with her former mentor (sense motive 23) but she doesn't bring it up right away as she approaches.]

[ syd's eyes warm as she turns to see her former squire. ] Thank you. So do you. How's it been?

It's been good.

[She's starting to feel more and more part of the organization as she goes, but it's always taken her time to settle somewhere when she doesn't exactly know what she's looking for yet.]

Been keeping busy which is always better for me than sitting idle.

At least there's no shortage on things to do here.

No there is not. And if I feel too cooped up, I still have a lot of London to explore.

[She's finding that she's a lot more of a curious historian than she thought she was. Blame it on having something that was truly new, not just something she's forgotten.]

I just like to explore. Plus big cities feel ... natural to me. Must be my New York upbringing, but I like a place where I can just walk around and see a lot of things at once.

Do you ever miss it? New York?

If I remembered it, I might. As of now, all I really had are a couple trips before I joined the Knights but ... it felt like home.

[She pauses as she considers.]

[ to the surprise to literally not a single person, lila looks incredible. the resurrection diamond is tucked away in her cleavage, so the low cut of the dress shows off the ring of scars that make the zacharov necklace all by itself. she swans over to sydney with a click of her heels, long curls swinging around her shoulders as she glances around for eric, assuming he's being an unsocial loser. tsk. she has her typical glass of pink vodka in her hand, but she holds out the second for sydney. ]

[ there might have been a lead up, but it got lost somewhere on her walk from the bar to syd. whoops. ]

You're asking the wrong person. [ she takes the glass, the deflective words more of a play for time to figure out what to say than anything. ] I don't remember him. At all.

Not that I don't appreciate the offer, but I think I can handle him.

I just don't trust a guy whose shoes cost more than mine. [ her nose crinkles. siding with the enemy clearly isn't a problem right now. jk, that part is an understood. ]

He might be able to tell me things about myself, things I didn't even know were a part of me. I'm not sure if that's appealing or not.

He also might be able to tell complete blatant lies about you so you'll be his friend. [ her eyebrows lift as if asking sydney to deny it's a possibility. ]

I'm fully aware of the possibilities. [ and she sounds kind of irritated about having it pointed out. but it's mostly an irritation at the situation. ] I'm not about to drop my guard with him any time soon.

[ her lips purse, unconcerned with sydney's irritation. someone needs to fucking say it and lila doesn't believe in anyone's ability to keep their guard up when confronted with their past. she won't flinch in the face of murdering someone point blank, but every reminder of her own curse turns her into a psychotic mess.

she's projecting a little, but she doesn't care. ] Well, be careful. He doesn't seem like the type of person to just answer your questions without something in return.

[ her hand lifts to her necklace, fingers looping around the thin chain. she had the stone reset out of that awful gaudy contraption it was in so it's just the stone now. ]

I remember most of my life, but there's still some stuff I wish I knew.
