[ Gold's been gone now for long enough to leave most people assuming that he isn't going to come back. Driven off by confirmation that he was, in fact, the Dark One from the Enchanted Forest by Gaston and Emma, the only indication that he's even alive came in a dream delivered to Belle, where he admitted that he was looking to understand more about this Dark One, perhaps seeking a way to refute the claims of the others. Plenty of people are worried, however, about what direction his search might take him. Others, however, are just plain pissed that he would abandon them without a word - and it's that anger that drove Faye to ally with GLADOS to discover that he was in Glastonbury, and with Lila's help enlist Zero to pinpoint his exact last known whereabouts, at a shitty motel. Together, the girls take a car and head out, hoping to find him once and for all.

There's only one car in the lot when they pull in, the VACANCY sign flashing forlornly above the office door. No lights are visible in any of the rooms, but a COKE machine provides some illumination, along with the lone pair of streetlamps that dully lighten the parking lot. ]

[ after a few moments, belle comes to open the door, a book held lightly in her other hand. ] Cora! Is everything alright?

[impetere]

Yeah.

[Sort of. And she's just going to jump right into it because why bother with small talk.]

I just wanted to let you know that Gold is back. Faye and Lila found him.

[untethered]

They-- [ she sucks in a breath, looking as if she almost can't believe it ] Is he--

Tell me he's alright.

[impetere]

He's alive.

[Whether or not he's alright is up for debate - he looked pretty beaten up, but he looked better than Lila.]

He was waiting for the cleric for Lila. But he said he wanted to see you.

[untethered]

Cleric for Lila? What happened to her?

[impetere]

I don't know exactly, but she looked pretty badly burned. I went for Solace first and then I came here.

[untethered]

Burned... [ ahahahahah /fears the worst ] Is Faye--

[impetere]

Faye wasn't in great shape, but she was okay too. She looked better than Lila, anyway.

[Gold also looked kinda singed himself, but again Cora doesn't really care and Belle hasn't asked so. He'll probably be healed by the time Belle gets to him anyway.]

[ she processes that for half a moment, before she shakes her head. ]

I need to see him. [ she sets down the book in a hurry, moving for the hall. ]

[Cora steps to the side so that Belle can get out the door and into the hallway before she follows.]

I think Solace was going to bring them back to the Dragon's Light wing, but I don't know if he was going to stay with them.

[Aka she has no idea where Gold is at the moment.]

I suppose we can check with Solace, then.

[She nods and will start heading in that direction. She'll take the lead if Belle wants her to, but she's also not leaving her side until Belle tells her to.

Just in case.]

[ she'll follow right beside her, pretty much, but doesn't protest her coming. ] How did he ... how did he look? [ she probably does not mean in terms of hotness, cora. she does not expect you to be with her on that one. ]

[impetere]

[Oh good because sorry Belle. She refuses to answer that question about her boyfriend's grandfather. Cora glances back to her and then gives a small shrug.]

He seemed ... rattled, I guess? But otherwise he was fine. Everyone looked pretty rough but they were alive.

[untethered]

I should have been there.

[impetere]

You aren't the only one thinking that.

[Cora should have been there too, to help. She pauses before reaching out and taking her hand with a small squeeze.]

But they're okay.

[untethered]

[ she squeezes back, but she shakes her head as they walk ] I don't know what to say to him.

[impetere]

[She considers for a moment, because she isn't sure what she would say in Belle's position either.]

Maybe you should let him talk first. You don't owe him anything - he's the one who needs to explain.

[untethered]

I suppose you're right. [ she squares her shoulders the best she can ] I can do this.

[impetere]

[She nods in agreement because Belle can do this. She has faith in her.]

I can stay, if you want. Once we find him?

[So she doesn't have to deal with him alone.]

[untethered]

[ she looks over, almost surprised, and it looks like she really, really wants to tell her no. to be able to handle this alone.

but she crit failed so that's not gonna happen ahahha. cries. ] You don't mind?

[impetere]

[There's another small smile and she shakes her head.]

No. Not at all.

[She probably won't say anything unless Gold says something that really pisses her off, but she can be a steady presence if Belle needs it.]

I appreciate it. [ as they're making their way up the stairs, she stops because she sees wynn coming down the stairs rather purposefully at the same time, dovan in step beside him, an ax hefted over his shoulder. ]

They didn't say how big it was, did they? [ he sounds a little excited tbh. also it's adorable b/c he's super short and wynn is so tall. ]
