Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

Ah, no kidding. I knew a couple people in New York while I was living in New York who worshipped him. Definitely not as uptight as Solace, though.

He's got a lot on his plate, so I usually chalk it up to that. There's not a lot of clerics in the castle, surprisingly, so sending us out has to be a paperwork nightmare.

I never thought about section heads doing paperwork. I mean, it's not like the Knights are accountable to anyone but Wynn.

Might be proverbial paperwork, but Hasmed's desk was definitely covered in stuff when I went to his office.

No, it makes total sense. Records of the missions, reports, evaluations. I wonder where they keep it all.

Room of Requirement for filing cabinets. [ she nods, impressed with her own idea. heck yeah. ]

I wonder who curates something like that. It's totally gotta be Lis'sa, right? That sounds like a nerd's wet dream.

I doubt she'd do it for the other sects though.

So maybe each section head's got it under control. Sucks for the sect with the least organized leadership, I guess.

That'd be the Freelancers, I guess, no offense. I wonder if Wynn does his own paperwork. Oh! Maybe that's why Christos is always so... grumpy, he pulled the short stick.

That's ... Damn, probably true. Does this mean we should be doing our own paperwork? [ asks the girl who's never been on a mission. ]

[ she shrugs in a don't ask me way. ] I pass all my shit off on Solace, yo. Knighting Groot right after the attack so I didn't even have to do any work there either. I don't know why they give me squires, I'm trash at it.

I sincerely doubt that. You had a hand in helping get me used to this place. I mean, admittedly, I've never even been on a mission, so who knows how I'll actually measure up, but ...

You'll do great, don't worry. Just listen and keep your eyes open, I don't think you'll have a problem with asking for clarification... [ which is obviously complimentary. ]

If the job was that easy, wouldn't anyone do it?

You'd think, right? But nah, Wynn's got his island of misfit toys instead.

I guess it takes a special kind of person to even want to.

In my defense, my prospects weren't spectacular. What's your excuse?

He was so cute. And when he was like "I don't imagine you're looking for employment?" and I was like "you made Wynn sound like a pimp", which he did, but man I woulda followed that ass anywhere. So I did. And now you know that it's not just idealism that brings people here.

Yeah. He got me the audience. Him and Risa. Lis'sa to a degree, though I'm not sure she actually wanted me. Not that I can blame her, I was not super serious or, um, brainy. Like I said, totally not a Ravenclaw.
