CLOSED ♔ knighting ceremonies
WHO || Wynn, Dovan, Koraith, Hasmed, Lis'sa, Solace, graduating squires, various members of the Knighthood, invited guests [closed]
WHAT || Full Knighting ceremonies for various squires
WHERE || Knight's Headquarters, the Great Hall
WHEN || December BACKDATED
HOW || Actionspam
Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.
The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.
"Please kneel."
((Given the large amount of promotions occurring, we will not be doing individual posts/parties for each. Instead, please there are top comments on this post for each section's ceremonies, and each section's parties. Feel free to make Drakenet posts or plurks establishing your character's invited guests, and tagging into as much as you would like/handwaving as much as you'd like. Also please make sure your established promotion is acknowledged here as well. ))

[Which is important because Wynn is the first boss she's ... pretty much ever had.]

He's yet to make one as far as I'm aware and I've been here three years. He's also been running this organization for a very, very long time. I trust his experience.

I haven't exactly gone digging into the annals of the organization's history, and it's not like people with super longevity are all that uncommon around here. I figured Wynn's just really old.

My best friend is an aasimar, she was married to an elf, my mentor is a drow who's been in the knights a hell of a long time.
[there's a beat.]
Maybe it's just the company I keep.

Yeah! She was one of the first people I met when I got here. She's like my sister.

[and she's very glad to have her.]
One of the strongest too.

She just turned six months old. And she is my one of my favorite six month olds in the world.
[The other being Shayla.]

That's the part they don't put on the recruitment brochure.

It's the rough part of life no one wants to talk about really. Loss is ... hard. But it opens a lot of doors too.

It hurts when it first happens, but ... it's kind of like a chain reaction. I lost my family when I was eight, and I grew up in foster care but if that hadn't happened, I wouldn't have met Gus and the Harrisons. If I hadn't met the Harrisons and lost my best friend, I wouldn't have become a thief, and if I didn't do that, I wouldn't have wound up ... here. I probably would have done something boring like ... joined the rat race and become an accountant. Maybe it would have been just as fulfilling, but I wouldn't have been me.
[It's taken her years to come to that sort of conclusion, but she's always been one to make the most of what she has.]
It's hard to look at it that way from the outset and I can't really say I'm a fan of the process, but looking back? I wouldn't have had a lot of the great things in my life, including Vi, without losing something else in the first place.

It wasn't until after I dropped out of high school and I was on my own that I began to find things that could really be good in my life, and that— it had nothing to do with getting kicked to the curb by family after family.
There's no connection there, no lesson I learned that made me a better hacker or a better knight or a better person. It just happened.

You learned to take care of yourself. Not a bad skill to have.

[She gives a small shrug.]
But if you always look at everything that happens to you as bad then ... I don't know. I guess for me it's better to see the silver lining.
