The morning after, the Knights board a plane at their private airfield, and begin the couple hour flight to the country of Slovechnia. Wynn has laid out a plan for them as such, leaving Sir Gar in charge of seeing it executed: they are to send in a few Knights to infiltrate the wedding, while others steal an ambulance from a local hospital. Using magic to make Sarandis think he's having a heart attack during the ceremony, they will intercept the outgoing call to the paramedics, and pose as them to take him out of there and straight to a private airfield to meet with Wynn. They're all aware, however, of just how smoothly their plans tend to go where these villains are involved - especially if the Mind Master shows up.

Either way, it promises to be an interesting day...

[ meanwhile, spike lands a vicious kick on kitty, who grunts but keeps her balance, and backs away, calling to the guards on the steps to: ] STOP HIM! [ before doing a full retreat across the lawn in the directions of the cops, raising both hands as she moves towards the cops, looking very convincingly the victim here (bluff 41). the two guards make their way down to flank spike, both trying to grab him by the arm. he gets one attack of opportunity against gray (atk 29, dmg 12), preventing him from getting that close, but orange grabs him (melee touch atk 29: opposed grapple 30 vs. 41) and spike shakes him off violently. ]

[Since Felicity is not Steve "I just like to throw myself out of moving vehicles" Rogers she is not going to jump out of the car to help with the fight, but she will get ready to do some fighting if K follows through with blocking their way out. She shifts to go roll down the passenger side window and prepares to shoot K winds up blocking their way.]

[ gar's panic increases as she notices the police car cutting off her intended route, looking back to see what astrid is shouting about. her mouth drops open as she realizes that steve is now back on the ground, being surrounded by police, and she says over the comm in a harried tone: ] Please try to keep the murder of police officers to a minimum and get out of there. [ as for their prospects of getting out past that police car - fuck it. off roading it is, and she turns the ambulance to the right, heading for the side of the chapel (drive 12) and... scraping a ton more cars in the process which slows their progress and beats up their ride a little more. at least the vehicles in the lot keep the exposed good tires from being in the sight lines of the cops... ]

Do you mind? [Spike growls. He takes a five foot step out of being flanked and attempts to grapple back the asshole that tried to grapple him (touch atk 36, grapple 43, dmg 46 with penetration and no atks of opportunity because he's got improved grapple haha suck it like he's going to suck your blood in a minute).]

[ When Steve gets to his feet it's not exactly reassuring that he's now being surrounded. At least he can do more good for the ambulance outside here. Between Kat's scream and Gar on the comms it's almost hard to focus. Instead Steve's attention is taken to cops A, B and E who seem to be experiencing some vine issues. Which means they're not a huge concern. So Steve moves to get over G's car (tumble 22). Steve lands next to H and moves forward with his shield to shield bash H (atk 36, dmg 15). ]

[ still fucking booking it like she's been a child of mercury all along, vi decides "fuck it" and burns another heroic surge (2/4) to cast heightened entangle again, aiming for d and c and maybe kitty, we just don't know! MORE VINES. enjoy your thorns and poison ivy!

over the comms she asks, breathing hard, ] Gar, what are the odds outting ourselves to Valentin will get him to call off the police?

[ a lot is going on, but vi really isn't looking forward to seeing more cops incinerated if archer gets into range. ]

[astrid is just going to stay in the back of the ambulance and babysit dimitris ... make sure nothing falls on him during all this exciting chase scene shit ... u know, the usual. although vi's question prompts her to reply over the comms:] Ummm, pretty sure he's not going to let us kidnap his bro Dimitris if that goes down.

[ spike basically wrenches the guy's arm backwards, and he lets out a scream of pain, managing to stay conscious despite the major damage to his... bones... meanwhile, steve slides across the hood of the police car and bashes his shield into H so hard that it knocks him backwards along with I and J.

meanwhile, plants be going crazy everywhere! they wrap around all three police officers on the street, and seal officer C's door shut. D, however, gets the door open before that can happen, and Kitty manages to just barely avoid the weeds trying to ensnare her.

still nursing that wound, kat glances over to watch steve get surrounded by the cops, and then vault over the car, sees spike seeming to have a handle on those guards, grits her teeth, and casts confusion on kitty. ]

[ kitty, however, shakes her head, dulling the effect of the magic trying to affect her (will save 20).

K backs up the police car a bit and then pulls into the parking lot, determined to give chase to the ambulance (drive 19). F leans out the window of his car, leveling his gun across the roof at kat and fires, one shot coming dangerously close, and the next catching her in the shoulder (atk 20/22, dmg 13). J moves around behind steve, so that he's flanked, as H tries to land a blow with the butt of his rifle (atk 24, dmg 5 if that hits), but either way, steve lashes out an arm fast enough that he drops his weapon with a fucking crit fail next. awesome. J tries to grab him from behind with improved grapple (melee touch attack nat 20, opposed grapple... only 13 so he probably doesn't succeed that). I clears backwards to take a shot at him (atk 24, dmg 7 if that hits). A, B, and E spend their turn trying to break free of the vines (str 10, 19, and 19) to no avail. C tries and fails to get that door open (str 12) and D scrambles out of there and clear of the waving plants, firing a shot at kat as he goes, since he assumes she's behind this (atk 14).

orange tries to elbow spike (atk 12) but that's pretty laughable, while gray takes a five foot step back, pulling a gun, and calls to the cops: "Over here!"

in the meantime, kitty books it for the fucking street, skirting the waving plants as much as she can once she's free of them. ]

[Felicity grips the side of the ambulance with her free hand as they start to go off road, glancing back over her shoulder at the sound of gunfire. As Elena's voice comes over the comms as well, she glances to Gar.]

If Elena can fly him out, we can cut our losses here and scatter. Ditch the ambulance and lay low until things die down and we can get out of the country on our own.

[It's an option, if nothing else. She also isn't sure the Valentin idea will work, but Myri's been rolling nat 20s all day so MAYBE THIS IS THE TIME TO TRY.]

looks ready to throw up honestly.

this is not what she had envisioned and she had envisioned a lot of we dun fucked up scenarios. she tries to gun the ambulance but the vehicle is just getting progressively shakier and starts pulling to one side then the other, getting them uncomfortably close to the chapel itself and not picking up any speed (drive 8). she looks like she's trying rapidly to process all this, to make the best choice, but she also looks like she's coming up empty here.

into the comm, she finally says: ] I don't think we can trust this to Valentin. Elena, can you meet us near the garden? We'll have to ... to fend off the car following us while you get Dimitris. [ and then a beat ] Since when can you fly?

[Spike notices Kitty making a break for it (spot 30) and growls, letting go of the way too fortunate Orange and makes a break for Kitty, trying to grab her instead (touch atk 39, grapple 42, dmg 32).]

Not so bloody fast.

[ orange gets an attack of opportunity on spike as he goes, but spike moves off too quickly for him (atk 24). kitty's 17 opposed grapple doesn't do her any favors but with a nat 20 fort save, she doesn't do more than grunt against the massive damage. ]

[ Buffy comes charging out and slides between the two cop cars to skid behind J. From there, she drops Decker's gun and puts the nonlethal hurt on J (atk 38/36 second hand/27/39 (Crit)/22). The last one whiffs past his face, but the others are altogether pretty brutal (damage 19/14/19/32 crit). If any of that goes overboard for K.O.ing J, she can take a five foot step with cleave and step to Steve's side and lay the rest of it on H. ]

Let us know when Dimitris is off site, so we can get out of here! [ that's said into the comm at least. ]

[ Those were some very sad shots and grapple (strength 20) attempts because Steve comes out of it unscathed. With Buffy laying the smackdown on J and potentially H Steve takes it upon himself to deal with I who has stepped away from him. With his shield on him he throws his shield (atk 33, dmg 14) directly at I. ]

[ still running, vi's bow shimmers as she draws it and the invisibility spell is broken. she skids to a stop and lets loose an arrow directly at d, aiming for his hand so he will stop shooting at kat. (heroic surge 3/4; atk 35; dmg 11) ]

[ the arrow goes singing through the air, hitting him in the chest, and kat looks back to see vi - and also steve and buffy kicking ass. she looks over at spike, tackling kitty, hesitates and then says over the comm with audible frustration: ] Sorry about this, Spike! Just get your ass to Myri! [ and she throws both hands up and create a giant wall of flames cutting in front of her, cutting off orange, A, B, C, D, E, Spike, and Kitty from the others. it throws off heat waves that scorch D and gray a bit and then she starts booking it around the front of F's vehicle. ]

[ ♬ kick the chair - megadeth

orange takes a step back up onto the steps, eyes widening in shock at the huge wall of flame now separating him from his buddy. he yanks up a gun and turns to fire after kat as she runs (atk 28, dmg 8 & atk 12), getting her once in the leg. F pushes open his door, staying behind it for some cover as he too fires on the mage (atk 13).

Officer G guns the car forwards abruptly in an attempt to run it into Buffy (drive 16), but she manages to jerk aside to avoid the brunt of the damage and therefore only takes 3. H steps back away from steve, watching him hurtle that shield like shiiiit and then fires at him twice (atk 29/18), one of which pierces through his suit for 14 dmg, catching him in the side. I reels from that shield hit, moving back towards the police car and ripping a grenade off his belt, pulling the pin with his teeth and lobbing it behind buffy (atk 22). it immediately begins emitting a cloud of irritant that fills the eyes with tears, but buffy and steve both manage to resist being blinded (fort saves 28 & 35).

on the other side of the fire wall, C finally gets his door open and tumbles out of his vehicle after D who burst forward, lifting his gun and pointing it at Spike. A, B, and E do the same, rooted in place by the plants, but nevertheless all training their weapons that-a-away.

hearing spike speak in english, officer D speaks in the same language, none of them willing to fire while spike has a 'hostage' gripped in front of him. "We've got more squad cars arriving any moment. The entire block will be locked down. Let the girl go, put your hands up, and turn yourself in, and we will not use further force." (intimidate 21)

kitty grips spike's arm in front of her, but doesn't try to break away, seeming to realize that's a bad idea. she hisses quietly where only spike can hear: ] You know what? Do it. Kill me right here in front of all these people. Let the world see you for the monsters we know you are.

You're only going to make what happens next easier.

[Archer finally reaches the action, heroic surging to charge up to cop #I and deliver a flaming suckerpunch ATK: 29 / DMG: 21]

[Then he takes a moment to look at the fire wall, hailstorm, viney vines, and tear gas.]

You wankers haven't landed a single shot!

[Spike's 27 will save just isn't that impressed tbh. But Kitty's words are... annoying. He can't just kill someone who's given up. It seems... cruel. Besides, that what happens next part's a bit alarming.

Not to mention that Kat just made a giant bloody wall of fire. That's convenient for the vampire.]

Bloody hell. [Into his comm he says:] Myri, I'm coming your way. Also I've got a second prisoner, I guess.

[And with that, he'll start dragging Kitty back towards the church, sparing a middle finger for the cops. He'll even use his first heroic surge of the evening to go a little further.]

[ Buffy five-foot steps around Steve to get at H. ]

Sorry about this.

[ But not too sorry to ... put him on his ass (atk 33/nat 20, 49 total/38/33/24, nonlethal damage 19/38 crit/15/16/15). ]

[ The bullet puncturing his side really sucks, but it's already being handled. Handle H, Buffy, he's not about to stop you. Once his shield returns Steve is going to vault (tumble 27) over G's squad car to get to F. Because Kat's drawing closer and the last thing they need is for her to get shot anymore. Once he's on his feet Steve hurls his shield once more at F (atk nat 20 with 38 total, 38 penetration dmg). ]

[ MORE RUNNING. she's straight up going to the olympics, tbh. sprinting over to kat, she uses her last heroic surge to reach out and grab her arm, the cool, soothing energy flowing forth from her palm healing the wounds kat's been peppered with. (transfer wounds, greater +39 hp) the resulting pain that hits vi makes her wince (20 subdual dmg), but she doesn't falter, raising her bow again. ] You heard Gar, get out of here, I'll cover you! All of you!

Thanks. [ that heals up all of kat's wounds tbh so she looks much better. ] What about you?? [ still, she glances back the way the ambulance chase went and then says: ] Get in the car! [ to anyone who will listen, moving to get inside the open door and start that vehicle up ]

[ the reason she could do that is that steve's shield? knocked F's head against the side of his car and he passed out from massive dmg, slumping to the ground.

G starts backing up his car up abruptly away from the smoke and fire and scary people... as the tear gas begins to spread. I takes a flaming foot to the head and turns, pulling his tonfa to fight archer, but does it so fast that it goes flying out of his hand (crit fail). he decides to just... swing at him (atk 20) but he's too fast too furious for that.

orange backs further up the steps, firing at vi this time (atk 27, dmg 9; atk 22, dmg 7).

A, B, and E start slowly slogging out of the entangled zone, while C & D go running after Spike at full speed. five more police cars come screaming up the street on this side of the fire, some of them driving straight onto the grass behind him.

gray pops a couple shots at him as he runs, one even hitting (atk 31, dmg 5).

meanwhile, kitty says as spike drags her along: ] You know, that chip we pulled out of you was the missing link we needed all along. That's the way Sarandis finally delivered on what he promised. All those chipped soldiers of his - we have you to thank.

How many of them did you lot kill?
