Steve & Cordelia | Closed

[ On a hill somewhere very pretty in England is Steve Rogers with Cordelia Chase on his back. It's super gross and romantic as he takes her up to where he's set up his picnic for them. ] Hold tight. Not much further. [ Steve grins to himself as he gives her a piggy back ride up the rest of the hill and to where the blanket is laid out with the basket and roses set aside. Of course Steve Rogers plans his second date to be on Valentine's Day. It's just how he is. ]

[ cordelia is holding on for dear life, arms wrapped around that sizable chest, as she lets out a thrilled shriek of laughter as they crest the hill.

when she notices the picnic, her eyes get wide. ] You did all this?

[recruited]

[ Once Steve comes to a stop he turns his head just a touch so he can see Cordelia's face. Right out of the corner of his eye. ]

Yeah. Is it too much?

[allaboutme]

[ her smile is ear to ear, and she's just staring as if she feels like she's gonna wake up at any moment to be honest ] Pretty sure those words aren't in my vocabulary. [ she lets her arms slip from his neck and steps closer, turning in place as she takes all this in ] It's perfect.

[ He feels a little more confident in this little set up then. Because one of the things he was concerned with was if he looked like a crazy person with how much he put into this. A second date on Valentine's Day isn't exactly typical. Even Steve "King of Not Dating" Rogers knows that.

Steve doesn't look at the set up though. Instead he watches Cordelia with a smile on his face. It just grows as she takes it in. ]

I agree. [ Though it's very clear that Steve is not talking about what he's done. ]

[ she's just grinning widely, as she turns and gives him a big hug, punctuated by a kiss on the cheek ] Seems to be a running theme with you.

[ Steve grins widely and turns as red as a tomato. He looks very proud of himself though. ]

Come on. Let's eat. [ He takes her hand and moves towards the picnic blanket to sit. ] You can tell me about your day before this.

[allaboutme]

[ she lets him pull her down to the blanket, where she sits cross legged ] Like about the guy who ruined two hours worth of perfectly put together hair with his superspeed?

[ Steve lets his legs stretch out off the blanket as he leans to the side against one of his hands. ] A guy. With superspeed. He wouldn't happen to have really blonde hair would he?

[ He takes a deep breath and nods. ]

Pietro. He was part of my team back home. Him and his sister. Wanda. She's here too.

[ It's all kind of--hard to talk about sometimes. Especially with what happened to Pietro. ]

Wait, they were on your team of superfriends? How'd they wind up here?

[recruited]

The Avengers.

[ God, Cordelia. They are so not the superfriends. ]

I assume they came through the Veil like me. Then I imagine their abilities got them picked up just like me.

[allaboutme]

It's not like I can talk. People from Sunnydale show up here all the time.

[recruited]

What was your home like? [ Steve reaches for the picnic basket to put it between them. He pulls out a container with strawberries as he looks up at her. ] Back in my time I used to dream about what California was like.

[allaboutme]

California? Beautiful. The sun, the sand, the water... [ she sighs dreamily ] Sunnydale, specifically, though? I couldn't wait to get out of there.

I've been to California, but it was for SHIELD so it doesn't count. I never got to go to the beach. New York didn't have good beaches. [ Steve nods his head. ] It's an interesting name. Look at you now. [ He gestures outward. ] You happy where you wound up?

Near death experience aside? Definitely. It's not like that's really new for me, anyway.

I've definitely had my fair share of those in my line of work.

[ His job is basically a near death experience back home. ]

You're a pretty strong woman.

Damn right. [ still, she sounds pleased, as she starts glancing through one of the baskets ] Something about growing up surrounded by vampires and fugly demons'll do that to you.

So, you've dealt with vampires too then huh?

[ His only knowledge of vampires is what he's hear from Rose during their training sessions. That and his introduction to Blondie. ]

Sort of a thing, when you live on a Hellmouth.

[recruited]

I've actually never heard of a Hellmouth. What is it exactly?

[allaboutme]

A dumping ground for demons and other nasty evil things. You know. A mouth of hell.

So, it's pretty much all in the name then huh?

[ Steve smiles to himself. ]

What sort of evil things are we talking?
