Yeah, I don't really have a handle on it all the time yet. I can choose where I'm going when I'm awake, but sometimes when I'm asleep I just... drift.

Considering how some of us are here, that sounds like it could be dangerous.

[ A note of worry in his tone.]

Maybe. But I don't know how else I'm supposed to figure it out.

Do you have anyway of coming out of it if things go downhill?

[ He understood the need to learn, he was just concerned.]

Nope. Just gotta ride it out.

[charismapotion]

That doesn't sound very safe.

[ He sat up a bit more looking at her.] I'm gonna be worried about you from now on, but I'm sure you'll be fine. [ He reached over plucking up a random flower, and held it over to her.] By the way, Happy Valentines day.

[ that draws a wide smile from her, and she reaches out to take it, sticking her nose in the petals ] I honestly forgot. [ it's a good distraction at least, and she's happy to have it. happy enough to reach out and give him a quick peck on the cheek ] Happy Valentine's Day, Mars.

[ He blushed a bit, despite trying not to. (bluff 5) ] Thank you, and don't mention it. It's actually why I'm out here. A few of my friends are really into the whole thing and I didn't want to get roped into anything to out there.

[ Venus was just judging the both of them and sticking her face back in the treat bag.]

What counts as too out there?

I... don't really have an answer, but I guess I was just worried about getting roped into something stupid all the same. You never know with my friends.

Which friends are these exactly?

[charismapotion]

Mostly Adam. [ Sure he's not seen him in awhile but he expected he would.] And you never know what Kenzi might be up to. [ He shrugged a bit and smiled.] I guess I'm being silly.

[moonheart]

They probably just want to see you happy.

[charismapotion]

Your likely right there. I usually dont mind the craziness that comes from my closest friends but, I never really cared about Valentines day. I'm not really a touchy person. [ He added with a shrug.]

What about you?

[moonheart]

I used to like it more, I guess.

Romantic stuff is always so... complicated.

[charismapotion]

Same here, then I realized love is just cheap and pointless.

[ He spoke like he was talking about the weather, reaching down he scritched Venus behind the ears.]

Friends are better than all of that mess any day.

faith bites her lip, cutting him a conflicted look, before she says heatedly: ]

I don't know if I'd say pointless. Like, I look at my mom and dad, and I know they're happy together, and things worked out great for them.

I just find it so hard to imagine being so sure of anything that you'd tie yourself down forever. Feelings change, and even when you think you know how you feel or how someone else feels, the next day, it can be totally different, and they can turn into someone else entirely. [ she can't entirely hide the personal nature of that particular statement, but she shrugs it off quickly ] I mean, how would you ever know?

Maybe it's because forever for someone like me means a lot longer than it does for most people.

[charismapotion]

[ He kept his eyes on her as he listened to her speak. He looked a little torn himself.]

Don't you think it's better to just not open yourself to something like that? I mean, listen to what your saying it sounds terrible. To have someone change and that makes everything change. Sometimes those kind of feelings hurt more than just the couple, no one thinks about that.

[ He reached up pushing some of his hair back out of his face.] Did someone hurt you, Faith?

[moonheart]

[ she looks down, reaching out to bury her hand in venus' fur again by means of distraction ] It's not like it's the first time things haven't worked out for me, but this time... I dunno. I thought it was different.

It was awhile ago, anyway.

[charismapotion]

You thought it was the one every story talks about?

[ he asked, trying not to let the cynic in him bleed out for her sake. (Bluff 16) ]

Wanna talk about it? I mean, I can't pretend to understand but I've always been told its healthier to talk about things like that. [ Venus moves off him him despite the fact he was petting her to, and went to curl up on Faiths lap. Mars pulled one of his knees closer to his chest once Venus moved.]

I don't know about the One... [ she sounds pretty skeptical about that ] But just... different.

[ she's happy to take the cat in her lap, and glances over at him for a moment, deciding. ] Do you know Jordan?

[charismapotion]

[ He just nodded.] Yeah, I know him. We were on the same team on Andres together. I don't know much about him though.

He's a genie. And a prince. His father is actually the King of the Genies.

A long time ago, my parents and Fiona's parents and their friends helped save the world from this evil tiefling in New York, and they wished on a genie to do it. But they didn't stop there. They made a whole bunch of wishes for themselves while they were at it, since all of them had three.

It sort of got the attention of the Genie King, Jordan's dad. He grew up knowing all about us. He didn't know how to tell me at first, but it was like he knew me like nobody else did, right when we first met.

And I thought-- Well, he started seeing this other girl suddenly, like out of nowhere. Faye? But she was hooking up with other people, and I didn't think it was exclusive or anything, so when he was throwing out all these signals while we were hanging out, I kissed him. And things got... [ she shrugs ] Well, he seemed pretty into things, until he just stopped out of nowhere and said he couldn't do it, even if he wanted to, and even if she was cheating on him.

So I asked him to break up with her, and be with me, if that's what he wanted to do, but he just kept saying that he couldn't and--

That was the last we ever talked about. He's mostly avoided me ever since, and we were like. Best friends before.

[charismapotion]

[ Mars sat quietly listening to her explain the whole situation. Nodding now and then and letting it sink in.

Wow that really sucked.]

Faye's kind of a friend, I work with her a lot. Is it possible things were open but he felt that he couldn't do that kind of thing? I wont pretend to understand that it seems complicated but sounds to me like he messed up and knew he did and now he's just not sure how to make it right.

I know if I did something that I knew was wrong to hurt a friend I would have a hard time facing them. Best advice I could give is you should corner him and make him talk to you.

Yeah, I guess. It just ... wasn't anything like him. Or maybe I just never really knew him in the first place.

I guess it could be a genie thing. They're... pretty weird.
