[Malia glances up and nods.] I didn't want to assume. Some people just have pointy ears. [Maybe not that pointy, but she's trying really hard not to just blurt things out as if she's a toddler that's at the mall.]

Are you from here?

No, I'm from a world named Faerun. A lot of people here just call it the Shadow World.

[animalistic]

Faerun is prettier to say, though. [Malia shrugs. If she had a choice, she'd always go with the nicer sounding word. Werecoyote wasn't always the best word in her opinion. She thought that Desert Wolf sounded cooler -- even if it was probably way more dangerous.]

Do you miss your home?

[silverguardian]

I do. My city meant a great deal to me there. They called it the "Gem of the North" for good reason.

[animalistic]

Is it in any of the books in the library? [She puts down her box of chocolates.] I'm supposed to learn more about this place, but I'm not exactly the most focused when it comes to studying things I'm not interested in.

[silverguardian]

I bet it is. Do you want me to find you one?

[animalistic]

Do you mind? [She glances to her chocolate.] I'm going to just put that in the kitchen. I could come with.

[silverguardian]

Sure. Not like I was up to anything, really.

[animalistic]

Okay. [Malia gets up and takes the picked through box of chocolate. She follows Nyna, but makes a quick stop to slide the box onto the kitchen table.]

I'm Malia. [She offers, since she realizes that she hadn't even asked her name before starting to pry for information about her home world.]

Nyna Dilant. Nice to meet you, Malia.

Are you a Knight or a Squire, like me?

[silverguardian]

Still a Squire. Dying doesn't get you a promotion, it seems.

[animalistic]

Dying? [She glances to Nyna.] That definitely sounds like an obstacle to overcome.

[silverguardian]

I managed. It's been almost a year, now.

[animalistic]

[A year ago does feel like a long time ago, but Malia is also used to things in Beacon Hills where too much happens in the span of a few days.]

Do you talk about it a lot or should I not ask questions?

[silverguardian]

I can talk about it. What would you know?

[animalistic]

How did it happen? [It seems the most important question to ask.]

[silverguardian]

It was on a mission. There were these... monsters inside of a painting, where a man was being held and tortured.

[animalistic]

[Malia frowns.] Does that happen a lot? Monsters in paintings?

[silverguardian]

Not anymore, I hope.

[animalistic]

That's good. There are a lot of paintings in London.

[silverguardian]

Well, this was Switzerland. Maybe it's more common there.

[animalistic]

Oh. [She says it as if it makes perfect sense for something like that to only happen to Switzerland.]

[silverguardian]

... That was a joke.

[animalistic]

Oh. [Malia feels weird for not realizing that, but she's not exactly good at those sort of subtle things.]

Sorry. I'm still trying to figure out those sort of things. I spent most of my life as a coyote and other animals don't joke around.
