Only from the comfort of my couch. [She watched a lot of travel channel recently. Making plans to go everywhere and then not going anywhere at all.]

My family only traveled through most of Europe before returning overseas to what had been claimed by the English. [That whole Vikings in Mystic Falls thing really does make their travel history a bit weird.]

And when was that?

[Rebekah gestures to the bartender to bring her another drink, before turning to answer Lis'sa's question.]

That's an answer that needs another drink. Most of the traveling through Europe was with my brothers. We had been running from our father and living under the pretense that we were an established noble family. We were still very new to being vampires - unaware of our powers. That was around 1002. We ran from then until around the seventeenth century. That's when we decided to return to North America. To put an ocean between us and our father. We traveled through the United States for quite some time. [Though, Rebekah spent most of it in a coffin. As did her brothers.]

And in all that time, what would you consider the most memorable sight?

Despite the castles of the countryside and the vast rolling hills that featured a myriad of colors within the flowers that grew there... [She thinks of New Orleans and how her family established their home there and how safe they were for so long. She knows the pain she brought her family by luring Michael to the city, but she had been in love and there were always mistakes to be made when Rebekah's emotions pulled her too strongly.]

Sunsets in New Orleans. It was early in the nineteen-hundreds. The city was so alive and in the evenings it would take on a new life, but for those few moments as the sun would set... [Rebekah smiles with fondness.] It was as if the streets were truly lined with gold.

[ lis'sa watches her as she describes it, finding something of interest in the way the memory seems to spread through her ] ... I can't remember the last time I watched a sunset. Anywhere, really. [ she takes a drink, a slight shrug of her shoulder ]

That's a shame. They're usually quite lovely here in London. All the stone buildings seem to absorb the light and create a cast of whatever color the sky is that evening.

[She takes the drink that the bartender has brought her and takes a long swallow before facing Lis'sa.] If we stay out late enough, we might get to see the second best thing -- the sunrise.

I agree. [She finishes her drink and then turns to face Lis'sa fully.]

Now, I believe it's time we head out into the middle of that and create some space for the two of us.

[ she takes another big sip of her own ] I should warn you, I'm not much of a dancer.

[Rebekah offers her a warm smile.] We're not going to be doing the tango. It's about movement and the music. [She offers her hand to Lis'sa.] I'm sure you'll be wonderful.

[ (UNSURE) if you say so, beks. she'll take her hand at least and be the one to lead her out there, but she's not about to start dancing first. ]

[Rebekah holds to Lis'sa's hand easily, moving through the crowd until they've managed to secure a spot in the midst of all the people. She's sure no one is going to pay attention to them. There are far too many people for that sort of concern. Rebekah moves in front of Lis'sa and tries to instill confidence in her (diplomacy 19?) as she starts to dance (perform dance 28) to the music. While she knows that she could show off, Rebekah keeps her moves in check. She uses her talent for dance to move to the music as she maintains eye contact with Lis'sa. She doesn't want her to feel as though she's alone out here.]

No one's even going to notice you. [Except Rebekah... but those are tiny details, right?]

[ despite her voiced reservations, lis'sa slips into the melody as if it's channeled right through her body (i don't have her sheet but she sure rolled a 19 and has a decent-ish dex), which probably makes sense, since ... she is part snake, after all. and she really doesn't give a fuck what other people might think, every swerve of her hips filled with the sort of confidence that makes her motions difficult to look away from.

she looks up and meets rebekah's eyes, and it's hard to miss the look of appreciation in them. with a ... nat 20 charisma check just... casually... in there.

[It's easy for Rebekah to pick up on how much Lis'sa is not horrible at dancing. She could have estimated that she'd be fine with it, given her skill at fighting and after all fighting is simply a different sort of dancing. The thing that Rebekah hadn't estimated, though, is how intense Lis'sa's gaze is. She's been around for a while and she's seen a lot of different looks thrown her way. Most of them littered with trying too hard or not trying at all and assuming their looks will win them over. This is hardly anything to easily dismiss away.

Rebekah is also hardly someone to simply accept something without reciprocation. It's impolite and also leaves her feeling like she's not keeping things balanced between two people. She steps in a bit closer to Lis'sa, letting her one arm lift to rest over the other girl's shoulder. Something light enough to not be intimate, but just enough to allow their dancing to fall into a more aligned rhythm.]

[ she doesn't seem to mind, smirking just a little bit as they fall into the same rhythm. her own hand moves gently to rebekah's hip, looking unconcerned about much at all as she moves with the music, hypnotically swerving her hips. someone all but bumps into her from behind, and gets a dirty look with a... 17 intimidate check, that makes them back right off ]

[Rebekah smirks as she watches Lis'sa rid them of someone invading their space. She likes the light touch of a hand on her hip, the way they seem to melt into the music and their surroundings without as much as a care for what comes next. The music continues a steady beat, deep with bass and thudding through the floor beneath their feet.

The arm that rests to Lis'sa shoulder shifts slightly, allowing her fingers to tease into a strand of the brunette's hair. It twists lightly around her fingertip, the soft curl feeling pleasant against her skin. It's possible she shouldn't be pushing this nearer to something more intimate, but to be honest Rebekah has been living alone in London for quite some time. Having any sort of connection to someone, especially someone who knows her as Lis'sa does, is a welcome one.]

[ she doesn't seem bothered by the touch, and winds up turning in place slowly, lifting her own arms to twine above her head, closing that space a little more between them as she backs slightly closer. she glances back over her shoulder, her expression somewhat sly. ]

[As Lis'sa turns in place, Rebekah moves her arm and allows her hand to rest to a hip once she's where she intends to be. The closer proximity makes the shared rhythm far easier to keep, allowing Rebekah to lose herself in the warmth of the body pressed to hers. The look Lis'sa gives her is easily met in Rebekah's eyes, the danger of the hunt always lurking there, but tempered by centuries of control.]

[ lis'sa's hand drops to settle over hers, almost as if to encourage her to remain there, and she has to lean back a bit to make herself heard as she says: ] This wasn't a bad idea.

[As Lis'sa's hand encourages, Rebekah gives her hip a gentle squeeze, reassuring her that she intends on staying wherever she's welcome. Smirking, she leans to brush her lips near Lis'sa ear, ensuring that what she says is easily heard over the volume of the music.] I'm glad you came with me.

I normally wouldn't do this. [ go dancing??? sexy dance with her mentee???? b oth...?? ]

I hope that doesn't mean this is a one time occasion. [Rebekah stays near Lis'sa, enjoying the dancing, enjoying the company. She knows that her behavior with her mentor has been edging further into a flirtation that she shouldn't continue, but she's never been one for rules and living up to standards.]

It probably should be. [ emphasis on ... should ]

[There are countless objections that Rebekah could make at this moment, but instead she chooses to focus on the language of the reply. On words like probably and should. Words that allow leniency and a bit of possibility.]

I'll just have to hope I can lure you out once more.
