[  Jaina Solo has been searching for more information about the Jedi Order and the Force for years now, certain that she and her family can't be the only ones who fell through from a galaxy far, far away.  It would seem that her search has finally paid off:  a Jedi Master may have been recently seen in Malaysia, taking a boat to the island of Luzon, where she was discovered dead on the slopes of a volcano.

With the fallen Jedi's lightsaber in hand, Jaina has asked her friends and family to help her investigate, and try to recover the lost item that the Jedi was carrying on her person - one that was not left with the body.    They've decided to head to the port first, to see what rumors may be left in her wake.  The beautiful Malaysia port of Kudat looks out over inviting blue waters, a number of ships lined up here of all shapes and sizes.  ]

[ Rey crouches beside the spot where heels dug into the Earth, her fingers brushing forward against the ground. It takes an action point because farseeing 17 was her first roll but then it was FARSEEING 21!! as she tries to reach back through the Force to see how the battle might have gone. ]

it's the most disorienting sensation, as if those around her are suddenly ripped away, or she's ripped away, into the middle of something furious, a clash of two buzzing blades, one the familiar violet that jaina had displayed earlier, the other a black blade outlined in furious red light, coming down in heavy strokes against the other, which parries against it with quick, dexterous twirls, that aren't enough in the face of that kind of onslaught. she can't make out more than a mask that meets that description of the one she received from the dock worker-- and then a woman's voice, defiant, saying 'You will not spread your lies to this world as well!' before the silencing thrum of a lightsaber cuts them off completely.

a gloved hand lifts something cube-shaped, covered in strange markings, examining it from behind that mask-- and then she snaps back into herself. ] Rey? Are you alright?

[ She staggers back, falling away from the spot where the woman had fallen, the surge of panic at watching her get cut down still forcing blood in a rush through Rey's veins, adrenaline pumping. Blinking hard, the sun seems to blind her as she looks back towards Jaina and tries to reorient herself to the real world when that felt so real. Just a piece, just a flash, but as real as anything else, as real as anything she'd seen under Maz Kanata's castle.

Wheezed breaths even out and she nods to Jaina in a hurry, then turns her attention back to the patch of dirt where the woman drew her last breath. ] She knew him. She knew the masked man, the one that killed her.

[Ah, the Force. Always filled with mysteries. Han raises an eyebrow, trying not to look too uncomfortable. Been around Force users for decades now and he'll still never understand it.]

Don't suppose she gave a name, did she?

[ Still swallowing the shock, Rey shakes her head in a hurry. Only once she catches her breath, as though trying to use this as a chance to get used to what will apparently be a common occurrence for a Force-user as she begins to try and hone what she'd experienced on Starkiller, does she finally give a more meaty answer. ]

She said she wouldn't allow him to spread his lies to this world. They must have come through the Veil together. [ She looks at Jaina. ] And I saw the cube. He took it. It must be what he killed her for.

[flyingsolo]

That's exactly what I was afraid of. [ a beat, before she looks rey over, raising her eyebrows ] You... saw all that?

[forcevisions]

[ Wary, she nods. ]

It was the Force. It happened one other time, before I came through the Veil. But I don't know what the cube was. I've never seen it before.

[cuivre]

Definitely sounds important, so we gotta make sure we get it back when we find this guy.

[He rubs the back of his neck.]

We just gotta figure out where he went after he was done here.

Was there anything else? Anything at all?

[forcevisions]

He had a lightsaber of his own. Red. [ Then, Rey shakes her head. ] There was nothing else.

[parsecs]

Makes sense. Bad guys always seem to go for red.

[That's Han's helpful contribution.]

That cube... had you ever see anything like it before? Back home?

[forcevisions]

[ Rey shakes her head. Rey hasn't spent as much time on Wookieepedia as her player. ]

But it looked more like something of our world than this one.

[flyingsolo]

Whatever it was, it was worth killing for.

We have to find it. [ she glances at han ] Has anyone heard from Poe yet?

[cuivre]

[Miles shakes his head.]

I'll give him a call.

[As he pulls out his phone.]

[forcevisions]

[ Rey hadn't really thought about it but now she's concerned. Poe on his own here sounds like bad news. ]

[behindcloseddoors]

[ miles has no more pulled out his phone than he receives a video message ]

[forcevisions]

[ An undignified noise of protest escapes her throat, morphs into Poe's name. ]

He can't just do that! Running off alone and up against someone like that, he'll be killed.

[cuivre]

[Yeah, he's already tapping at the buttons.]

STOP POE. WAIT FOR BACK-UP. DO NOT GO IN ALONE.

[ that's weird

it says it

couldn't deliver the message... ] We need to find him. Now.

[forcevisions]

[ With a navigate check of 14, Rey heads off in the ... general direction of where she decides that valley might be. Because let's not stand around talking about getting him, but instead go for it. ]

[cuivre]

[Miles helps out with a navigate 17, his expression tense as fuck because holy shit is squire is gonna die or something. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO JUST GATHER INFO GDIT POE. He should have gone with him this is horrible.]

[oh hey look, there they are. BB-8 is going to spy them and will head in their general direction, beeping to get their attention.

He may or may not have a little legion of children around him, but that is all Poe's fault, which he will lament about later to anyone who can understand him]

[ it was a drive to the volcano, so it's a drive back as well, but they do manage to find bb-8 when they get back. jaina's head whips around looking for poe, worried instantly. ] BB-8! Where is he?

[forcevisions]

You left him alone?!

[ She's stressed and pressed but not blaming BB-8 exactly, just sharing her concern. ]
