Cordelia and Steve have gotten together to plan a rather fun party to celebrate Sarandis being taken down. Abbie even managed to grab them a rather awesome band to entertain the guests and everything else was hand picked and decided on by Cordy and Steve. It's not as fancy as a squiring after party, but it's just as fun. The ballroom has been "dressed down" a little to match the relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy yourselves!

[ Buffy's silent for a time, and it only takes a few seconds for it to become apparent in the drag of her eyes in some middle distance that she's doing math and carrying numbers from one column to the next, made more apparent when she flatly declares the most important realization in all of this— ] Does this mean you're, like, seventy?

Closer to ninety-eight actually.

[ Good try though. No one ever actually does the math. So he won't fault her really. ]

[ yeah this is breaking her brain. ]

Nothing, technically. I read you loud and clear. Loud and old and clear.

[ There's a soft wince from Steve as he looks at her. ]

I mean, you look great. [ ? ? ? much ? ? ? better. ]

It's okay. I know. I'm pretty old. They don't actually know how I'll age. So, it's still up for debate how good I'll look int he coming years.

Because of the ice ... ? [ don't mind her struggling with super soldier biology. she struggles with all biology. ]

No. The serum. The ice was just unfortunate. The guy who could have given us some answers was gunned down shortly after the procedure.

The serum that made you super? So that wasn't the ice.

No. Though they think it was just a combination? Who knows though. They're sorta lacking answers on my serum. I'm a little tempted to see if anyone here has the ability to figure it out.

I'm sure the Hoard would love the chance to poke and prod you, but I'm not so sure you'd enjoy it. That's a lot of testing to sign up for.

It honestly wouldn't be the first time a bunch of scientists wanted to poke at me. Sometimes if you close your eyes it's pretty easy to block them out.

You could always just not let them do it, you know.

Yeah, but then I'd be lacking answers. I figure if I just deal with it now then maybe this place would be able to give me some answers. I don't really enjoy wondering if I'm gonna outlive my friends.

Around here, you're more likely to make friends who'll outlive you by a long shot, but I get your point. I hope you find what you're looking for; once you come through the Veil, answers can be hard to get. I still don't know much about what I am or where I came from, and I got the 101 from people who did remember.

I know I got a few blank spots myself. Things that I really haven't tried to scratch at. [ He nods. ] What's wrong with the information they gave you? Was it rough to hear or just jumbled?

[slay]

Jumbled. Incomplete. I know I'm the Slayer; I know what I do. I just don't know where I came from.

[recruited]

So, you're missing the important history of what you are then huh? [ That's how he's seeing it. ] And you haven't found a single soul here on this side of the veil that knows what a Slayer might be?

[slay]

A few who might, or should, but don't seem to have much more than the surface. That we're called to fight demons. That we pass our powers on to the next generation when we inevitably, violently die doing it. Nothing about where that power comes from.

Do they know of anyone in this world that might have a few more answers for you? As in not directly connected to the Knights. Someone you might have to travel to in order to speak with.

Well, that's how I found Robin—he knew some. His mother was one of us. But other than that ... I don't know.
