[ It's been an eventful morning downtown.  After a troll hit up a bank and the customers within, he went on a violent rampage through police officers attempting to escape, that have ended with a standoff.  He is currently holding a busful of people hostage, surrounded by squad cars downtown, and the Knights have been charged with helping contain the situation without any civilian casualities... ]

[ the bus has a front door, emergency back door, and emergency side door halfway through on rory's side.

the troll leans over rory menacingly, gritting his teeth together (intimidate 16). "I SAID. CRUSH."

a couple seats over, a little girl starts crying. "Mommy, he's not gonna hurt the kitty is he?" ]

[What the troll doesn't seem to realize is that Rory's got a lot more steel to him than he looks. Despite the fact that the troll is very scary, he's faced down scarier aliens and won (will save 19).

(Or maybe it's just the fact that he doesn't want to upset the little girl. He's got a soft spot for little girls.)

His spine straightens as he looks the troll dead in the eye as he stares him down, trying to be just as scary, but there's the very real idea that the troll would likely crush him instead, but at least he's trying (intimidate 12).]

[ kali's just going to peer in through the back door, clocking how many passengers there are and which door would be best to herd them out? (spot 38, hide 37) ]

[Meanwhile, Groot is gonna go do the distraction thing and walk to the front of the bus and peer in the front window, waving at the troll to try and get his attention.]

I am Groot!

[Rocket moves into position right behind Groot, prepared to provide back-up if his buddy needs it. he has both his excaliburs out and everything. aw yeah gunslinger raccoon.]

As in capture. [Though lbr. The flurken looks like a cat so.

And Gwen is going to position herself by the front door of the bus, trying to see how many many passengers she can herd out that way while Groot distracts the Troll. (Spot 22 / Hide 24.)]

[The flerken sure does look like a cat, and sure doesn't appear to have any tentacles and though she is yowling angrily, there aren't really any obvious signs to make it clear she's anything other than a normal cat. Rory doesn't seem like he's about to crush her, so she winds her way behind him, bumping her head against his back. Protect her, strange human who doesn't want to crush her.]

[ yeah that troll starts laughing uproariously at rory's attempt to be scary, tbh. he reaches into his coat and yanks out his giant assault rifle, causing people to start screaming. or maybe the tree person is why they're screaming. he doesn't seem to notice that, however... as he doesn't turn around to face the front, pointing his gun at rory's face. ]

Now you and it BOTH go boom!

[ annnd it's time for init. there are eighteen people on the bus, including rory, including men, women, and about three young children altogether. ]

[Rocket's ultra-sensitive ears pick up on the troll's sudden change in demeanor (listen 39), and he springs immediately into action, bolting towards the bus's front door.

Rather than waste valuable time trying to pry open the door, he grits his teeth in an anguished groan and fires a single shot at the glass door at a low enough level to not accidentally take out the driver (thank god for being short) (atk 19, dmg 7), shouting:] EVERYBODY STAY DOWN.

[assuming that... breaks the door, he climbs up onto the bus and takes his position at the front of the aisle, guns akimbo.]

Look, dude, there's stupid and then there's stupid, and what you're about to do is really, really stupid.

[ kali let's rocket make himself a target so she can gently (str 22) yank the back door open and look at the people on the bus with a friendly smile. look at this face. ]

Hello innocent bystanders, please exit this way. Keep low and quiet, one at a time. Tiniest people first.

[ give her the babies. ]

[Gwen looks alarmed at the insanity that is shooting while there's civilians in danger and like Kali, her goal is getting people out of there rather than fighting the troll.

She and the passengers can't fit through that hole though so she's going to attempt to wrench the front doors open (Str 17).]

[It's cool, Rocket wouldn't have hit the driver anyway, because the troll injured him early, and he's still in Rory's care. That being said, he's not going to waste time staring at the sudden arrival of a gun toting talking raccoon.

Rory is simply going to drop down, using his body to shield the injured bus driver who is still in his care, trying to shield his body and see if he can reach for his sword, which is with the rest of his medical supplies.]

[ edain positions himself below the back doors that kali has opened, ready to grab people and hoist them down... even though he'd rather be stabbing things ]

[meanwhile, Groot literally groans because he's supposed to be the distraction, not his tiny little friend.

Then he slams his hands down on the front windshield to break it (atk 21/17, dmg 13/17), both as a tactic to get the enemy's attention and also to...probably drag the driver out of the bus if he doesn't haul ass.

This is going well.]

[Chewie, still distressed, but finally with a way off the bus, does what any cat would do. She climbs a tree.

Considering she actually knows the tree currently breaking a windshield, he seems a good candidate. She bolts through the windshield, scrambling up Groot's arm to go perch on his head, hackles raised (climb 24).]

[ the troll lets out an angry yell as everything starts exploding and shattering around him. he turns around sprays bullets towards the front of the bus where groot and chewie are (atk 15 - they must make reflex saves DC 15 or take 13 dmg.

the passengers scream, but only those who are close to the back door dare to start moving right now with bullets flying down the main aisle. a mother hands her kid down to edain, as the bus driver beneath rory groans. "We're gonna all get killed!" ]

[Rocket takes advantage of the distraction to wedge himself in the space between the driver's seat and the pedals for cover.]

Buddy, I can see you're havin' a pre-tty bad day today, so maybe we can take a moment to chill. Or else my tree buddy out there is gonna have to do somethin' unpleasant. We're reasonable guys.

[it's not even... really much of a diplomacy check, but he wants it on record that he tried.]

[ under her breath, mostly to edain, ] You shot a door open, Rocket, I'm not sure you entirely know what reasonable means!

[ kali leaps up onto the bus (jump 35) and moves so that she's between the mother and the gun toting troll, gently nudging her toward the door as well. ] You're next, please. Quickly and quietly, please hurry.

[ she points to the next closest civilian as she tries to keep creeping forward. ] You're next.

Everybody stay down and move towards the back of the bus! [Her alarmed, Welsh tone struggling to be heard above the sound of the gunfire.

She is going to try and make up for Rocket's attempt?! At diplomacy as she draws her guns and steps into the front of the bus.]

Listen, mate. You are outnumbered and outgunned. If you need help, we will help you but you need to stop shooting before anyone else gets hurt! [Diplomacy 35. Yeah if this doesn't work she's just going to start shooting tbh.]

Not today.

[Rory Williams sure as hell didn't survive the Romans, following the Pandorica throughout history, the end of the world and all of the Doctor's alien adventures to die in a hostage situation with a troll. He draws his sword, before shifting just slightly so that the driver can move ahead of him to the back of the bus.]

Stay low. Move quickly.

[ edain takes note as he helps lower the next person out, glancing inside ] An armed civilian with a blade. I knew there were some reasonable types in this world.

[Groot pauses to see how this attempt at diplomacy goes, holding his action.]

[From on top of Groot's head, Chewie yowls angrily, trying to be intimidating but mostly ending up adorable (intimidate 7). OH RIGHT and she took full damage from the attack so now she's not looking super happy so she makes herself small using Groot's head as cover.]

[ it's far far too late for diplomacy here, it seems. the troll, enraged, roars so loudly that they can smell his bad breath. ] LEAVE

ALONE!

[ and to enforce that point he's going to fire at the front of the bus again (reflex 15, dmg 8).

the next civilian gets out, and the mother glances nervously past kali, holding her hands over her kid's ears as they scream against the gunfire. ]

[whelp that happened. rocket buries himself underneath the front seat to avoid the hail of bullets (reflex 20), and then jumps back into the aisle.]

Yeah, that's how I deal with my problems too. Problem is I take it out on bad people.
