With five dead members of a gang whose members are composed of entirely non-human Shadowkind, Belgium police are concerned that a gang war is about to break out, with accusations flying towards an anti-Shadow gang in the same inner-city neighborhood in Brussels.  The Knights are sent to get to the bottom of this, and to that end, they've arrived in the city and made their way towards the section of town where the deaths have been occurring...

Thank you. [She gives him a sunny smile and a nod, then turns towards the others.] Do you deny these charges?

[ "You're damn right we do. Always trying to fucking start trouble, these Shadow runts," the leader of the opposite gang grumbles. ]

[he made a hand to stop her, and then sighed. They were here to help. but not to interfere with every squabble on the street. He sighed, staying with the rest of the group though to let the Princess handle the situation she put herself into, his hand hovering near his gun just in case.]

[Considering they're talking about the murders, it seems to be a legitimate squabble to get involved in. She purses her lips and looks at both gangs.]

Obviously the only way to settle this is a thorough investigation. Fortunately for you, that's exactly what we're here to do. I assume you're all willing to cooperate thoroughly so that justice can be done?

[(Diplomacy 24) She looks around meaningfully at everyone. If people don't want to cooperate, they're probably hiding something.]

[ the dwarf looks grumpy about it, but he looks away, arms folded, and doesn't protest.

the human leader looks them all over more closely. ] You cops? You don't look like cops.

[More than happy for Bonnibel to handle take the role she is most comfortable with, Avaleen only chooses to interject under the scrutiny of the other leader.]

We have been asked by the local authorities to investigate the matter on their behalf.

We can handle this ourselves. They wanna keep coming around here throwing accusations around, they'll find out the hard way why it's a bad call.

Why would it be a bad call? [Bonnie tilts her head, quirking an eyebrow.] I haven't been accused of murder before, but I'm fairly sure making threats won't help convince anyone of your innocence.

I don't care what you think! There's no proof because there's nothin' to prove! [ both groups of thugs start yelling at each other loudly again, throwing insults back and forth in a growing cacophony. ]

[Look how few people are shocked to discover that Avaleen had prepared Calm Emotions, several words are murmured under her breath and with a motioning of her hands, a wave of calm washes over everyone standing within a 170 foot radius of her (Will Save 20 Negates).

[If Bubblegum's aware a spell has been cast, she makes no notice of it.]

[having stayed back, Baal also goes forward because things are getting heated, raising his voice with a diplomacy 27]

Gentlemen! Fighting like this does not solve problems. It just continues this cycle you are trapped in. Perhaps you should listen to the ladies and try a new approach that will bring benefit to you all.

[ between the spell and baal's words, the arguing finally ceases, and the human leader rolls his shoulders, shaking his head ] Fine. What do you need from us?

[One look at Ava may suggest that she's focused on what she's doing so the speaking in this situation is best left up to the others as she maintains the spell.]

Information. I want to know who saw each of the victims last, where they were found, and any altercations anyone has witnessed.

[ the dwarf growls, arms tightening across his chest.

"It happened when they were alone, walking through this territory - it skirts the borders of their turf. Rex had been arguing with his boy earlier," he says, nodding at the human leader. ]

And what was this argument about, sir?

[ the man shrugs.

"The usual, I expect. Shadowkind getting uppity, thinking they run this town." ]

You realize that a bunch of Shadowkind are trying to help you right now, right? It's probably in your best interests to hold back your racism until we're done.

Some people don't have an off switch for it. [ nyna seems pretty done with this guy, tbh. ] Look, we're trying to keep more people from dying. That seems pretty straightforward to me. How about you break up this little lovefest, and let us look around, make sure there's nothing else going on here?

[Baal would point out that he isn't Shadowkind, but that isn't really the point here]

A town only functions when those who care about it work together, not against each other. But the ladies speak truth - perhaps it best to put this matter to rest for now, and let us see how we can help both of you find a solution that can help that is best for all, and not just one.

[ they glare each other down a bit more, before the human scoffs and waves a hand.

"Fine. Whatever. We'll clear out and you can look around all you want." ] There, that wasn't so hard, was it?

[Ava will wait for them to start to disperse before she breaks her concentration. Mouth set into a grim line as her gaze lifts to the rest of the group.]

Perhaps somebody in the Church might be able to offer assistance. [Without a side of threats and bickering.]

That's not a bad idea. Maybe they heard something.
