It's been a week since Sir Jeanne Gar was abducted by agents of the Church of the Lord's Humanity, despite the Knights' efforts to thwart the attempt.  Several of the younger Knights learned a harsh lesson as they watched the Mind Master shake even the seasoned Sir Hasmed, and turn some of their number on each other.   While Wynn has announced that they are determined to find a way to save Gar, it''s certainly obvious why he's hesitant to send agents out, after what the Mind Master alone has done to several Knights, including Finnick Odair, who may never be the same.  

A dark cloud hangs over the Knighthood, either way, dampening any enthusiasm won from their victory in finally taking down Dimitris Sarandis and two other notable members of the Shadow-hating Church led by Draken Crombe.

The sun is still up in the late evening, on this day, but there's a heaviness in the air.

[ and suddenly, with an uncomfortable swoop in her stomach, they're in the dragon's light and vi's squinting at the lack of natural light, shaking her limbs out with discomfort. myri seriously needs to bop her around london so she can get used to that. anyway, that's not important.

what's important is that when myri releases her and she can step away she makes an unendingly frustrated noise. ]

Pompous motherfucker thinks he can say anything about honor. What the fuck is honorable about kidnapping innocent people? What the fuck is honorable about literally anything they do? [ Dawn drops the roll of tape she'd been fiddling with, her train of thought completely derailed by the sudden appearance of Vi and Myri and the kids. The small square of gauze she'd been trying to use on her arm hangs loosely, dangling and forgotten for now. ] What's going on?

[astrid had been sitting on the counter, skimming her phone and eating gummi bears. until ... vi and myri and the children crashed in??? ew, babies. oh right, concern.] You need to slow down. A lot.

[Myri looks like she's not sure if she wants to murder someone or throw up. Maybe both. But for now, she'll focus on filling in more people of the potential danger.]

The Mind Master is here. With Crombe. He says he wants to speak to Wynn, to negotiate. There's a high chance this is a trap of some sort.

He wants to negotiate for Gar. [ she plops lucia in the playpen, passing her a blood pressure cuff to play with before abruptly straightening up. kat. ]

[yeah ... that's not cool.] What the fuck. Does Wynn know? Should we evacuate or something?

Yeah, I'm with Myri. [ She pulls the piece of gauze off her arm. Which, ow. ] It has to be a trap.

[ solace approaches from the other side of the room, with anastacia in tow ] Wynn just sent us a message. He's going down to meet with them.

I'm going, as well.

[ vi gapes briefly. ]

And if it is a trap? If they're luring Wynn and his most high ranking knights to a parley only to kill them and destabilize the entire knighthood? You can't think that Crombe brought the Mind Master as only a bodyguard. He ensured we can't act and brought his most deadly weapon while we're impotent.

[Myri sets Shayla down in the playpen with Lucia, shaking her head, as if she might be able to free herself of the terrible ways she can see this ending.]

There are too many ways for this to go wrong. They've done this on their terms, surprised us and left us scrambling to come up with a plan. Sir Solace, I beg you to consider remaining apart from this meeting. Should anything go wrong, we do not want them to take control of our most capable healer.

[diplomacy 35. She might also have some loyalty feelings about trying to keep her section head alive.]

I don't think it has to be Solace, even though you're totally my fave, but I don't think all the section heads should be there. The United States Cabinet has a designated survivor, a person who stays home when they have huge meetings and stuff just in case if there is a giant bombing or whatever, someone's left to rule the country. I'm just saying ... we might need a designated survivor. Just in case.

The only section heads currently in the building are myself and Sir Hasmed. [ the words are quiet, as he shoots an apologetic look at myri ] There will be others, should it come to such a thing.

Do you know where they are? [ She's listened for a moment, letting the gears turn. ] Does Wynn, or Sir Hasmed? Because if any of you do and you walk into that room, with her, then the leadership of this organization is doomed. [ She looks up, folding her arms over her chest. ] I wanna have faith in our ability to foil the Mind Master, but... someone recently accused me of being too much of an optimist.

[ vi isn't sure that matters much anymore considering the mind master proved once again she can stroll in univited. if she can find the castle, she can just wait them out. that said, ] She's got a point. That's exactly how she found Lazarus. [ aside from vi leading her right to him. she shakes her head and looks to myri. ]

I'll look after the girls. [ fuck if she's going anywhere near the mind master again. but myri has spells to protect herself and others around her, if she wants to go with solace and anastacia, vi wants to make sure she won't be worrying about her daughter the whole time. ]

I'll stay with them as well. [ babies are priorities though ]

[Myri takes Vi's hand, squeezing it gently and nodding. Vi and Ana watching the girls will make her feel much better. She's not sure if she can really do much, but she can't deny that she does want to be there, just in case.]

I'll have my phone on me. If anything happens... [like idk...dinosaurs...]

[astrid looks at myri like she's going?? she gets to go??? and not stay with the babies?? fuck this shit.]

Me too. [ She doesn't look all that enthused, but she also isn't going to stay up here. Not when she might be some help.

It's doubtful, but weirder things have happened. ]

Be careful. [ which vi is pretty sure they will be, but she feels bears noting anyway as they begin to leave. ]

Myri arrives, looking weary, but not at all injured.]

They came to offer a trade. [She says, her voice sounding hollow, defeated.] A promise to return Gar, but only if Rafael went with them.

[ sometime while this whole thing was happening, vi sat down on one of the beds and gathered both babies in her lap to tell them a story and now lucia is sleeping draped over her leg and shay is slumped against her shoulder, trying to keep herself awake with that baby perseverance. ]

A trade, [ she echoes, soft voice oddly resigned. she doesn't ask the outcome because she's not stupid. (wis 20 total) ] Why did they want Raf?

He mentioned some event. An... an auction. I'm not entirely sure. But there was also some sort of invitation for Stargods only know what. Wynn has it. It involves us, I think. [Failboat, that is.]

Felicity was able to slip her phone into Rafael's pocket as they left. Some of the others are working to do something with that. Buffy went to work on a plan- with Tia, I believe.

[ her head dips in a slow nod, eyebrows knitting together as she tries to reconcile all this. she's glad buffy is talking to tia, for a variety of reasons. ]

...an auction. [ it feels like her heart is pounding in her ears. that was... selfishly, the first thing that crosses her mind is how this will impact her, but at least it's pushed aside quickly with sorrow for buffy. ] I'm starting to think none of us are meant to fall in love.
