[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies.  This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding. 

You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. Well. Spring always comes, my mom taught me that. [ maybe not as an actual mother-daughter lesson, but she gave vi her gifts so it counts in her favor. ] Speaking from experience, here?

[ He considers his answer carefully for a moment before inclining his head slightly in acknowledgement. ]

Yes. I have lost many companions. I have lived in rather volatile times, in my world.

You'll fit right in here, but I'm afraid the volatile times are still rolling. You gotta take the breaks when you get 'em.

[ He shoots her a wry glance at that. ]

I am well accustomed to it, at the very least. Although I have a fervent hope that things do not turn so dire here. [ But he inclines his head at her piece of advice. ] This, at the very least, seems a pleasant enough diversion when one has need of a break, however.

Anytime you want a breath of fresh air, we're pretty much out here all the time. [ lucia strangles a flower with a happy smile. ] The world ending doesn't mean she gets to miss out on her childhood.

[ He casts her an understanding glance, but lets the matter drop for the time being, not wanting to press into unpleasant territory.

Instead he cocks his head and wonders if they are talking about the same thing. ]

That sounds like a dangerous risk to accompany the information. What happens to those who seek knowledge who are not capable fighters? [ Not that he counts himself in the category, but he might be a little overprotective of others who are. ]

[She's just going to stare at you for a little bit, mouth open, confusion stirring in her dark blue eyes... until she finally clicks.]

You're... picturing... giant, club wielding creatures now aren't you?

[ He tilts his head to the side. ]

Do trolls appear differently in this world?

[ Funnily enough, that also accurately describes many of the Qunari he's encountered of late. ]

Uh... well no we, do get those as well because of the veil but the ones on the internet...it's more, metaphorical troll than a creature of shadow.

The internet is a... I've never really had to explain this before. Kind of like a Library? Except... [Most of it is BS?!] Maybe we should start you on something a little easier. Have you discovered Netflix yet?

[ He blinks at her blankly. ]

Is that a nearby city?

[Her lips press together and she stares for a long, quiet moment.]

Okay or, maybe I'll just find you a Lonely Planet guide. [How does one, teach the basics of modern life?] It's a book so, I think you'll be okay with that one.

Solas and Ashe, Post-Mainplot Confrontation

[She smiles faintly. It's not quite flattery, but an acknowledgment of the fact that nothing pertaining to the Breach or the Anchor or anything that followed had ever gone as he'd planned-- something she had been well-aware of from the start, without knowing whose plans it was that her presence had derailed.]

Are you willing to be surprised again, then?

[More specifically, is he eager for it?]

Willing?

[ His lips twitch, amusement flitting briefly through his gaze as he gives her a look. ]

I'm flattered you think I have so much say in the matter. In truth, I've come to expect it. You do make quite the habit of tossing everyone's plans out the window, whether intentionally or not.

I do what I can, given the circumstances. I know that's not always what's expected.

[There hadn't been much room for planning in most of the situations she'd found herself in once the Anchor had attached itself to her.]

I suppose it's not so different here.

[She just has the chance to slow down, to let others lead, and though it mostly goes unspoken, she's more grateful for than than she can remember being for anything in a long while. Her role as Inquisitor had taken its toll on her.]

[ Not always, indeed. As far as Solas had seen, Ashe hadn't stopped turning every corner of Thedas on its ear ever since she'd fallen out of the Fade Rift with the Anchor in her hand. ]

Do you think not? I take it you are finding it easier to adapt here now, having had a chance to find your bearings?

[twistingveil]

The world itself is new and strange, but Thedas had proven itself to be a different world than the one I'd thought it to be, as well.

[She'd had to adapt there as much as she had here, leaving her culture behind and learning to face threats she'd never imagined their world would see even in her wildest dreams.]

The willingness to learn and to do whatever is within my power to help hasn't changed.

Solas and Myri (and Shayla)

[ He studies her a moment, thoughtful. ]

No. No one deserves that. Although I'm relieved that you - and your daughter - have found a relative haven here against such dangers.

I am as well. This place is everything I've ever wanted. A home, a family.

[bythedreadwolf]

[ That has his gaze flitting momentarily towards her daughter before fixing on her once more, lips curving faintly. ]

A more bountiful treasure than some are fortunate to discover in their entire lives.

For all the danger that this world may have, I will never regret finding myself here, finding a life here that I never could have had otherwise.

[bythedreadwolf]

[ It draws a smile to his lips at last, fully visible and easy as he inclines his head. ]

Fortunate indeed. I cannot fault you - and the others I have encountered - for being so fiercely protective of what you have shaped here. It is a good thing, a rare alliance, to see so many differences come together to forge something so strong.

What sort of place did you come from? I'm always terribly curious about such things.
