WHO || Everyone! [ota]

WHERE || Anywhere in the castle, surrounding environs, London, Andres, etc!
WHEN || Any time in May/June
HOW || Actionspam
[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of these few months. Because not everyone is into parties, ok. Characters who are not currently squired in may also post, as their characters are living in the castle awaiting their ceremonies. This takes place after the Knights have returned from Dimitris' wedding.
You are encouraged to start your own threads and tag around, and feel free to threadjack into any on-going threads that aren't specified as 'closed' in the subject lines since people can enter into rooms even in the middle of what's going on. WE ARE BIG ON THREAD-JACKING HERE. You can also specify 'single thread', meaning you want only one response for all participants, rather than multi-thread, where a number of different scenes/threads can be done as replies to the top prompt.]

Yeah, right. We both know that's why you like me. [She comes in hard for the first two blows. (Atk 45, 43. Dmg 25, 15). But the next two go wide as she tries to protect her ribs. Spike too fast for her to make the most of it. (Atk 26, 28.).]
Tired yet?

Alright - alright. [Holding a hand up.] I know we could keep going until we kill each other? But I don't heal as fast as you and I have a boyfriend who's gonna grill me about these bruises tonight.

Is there.... much call for that around here?

[ Her voice is light, full of humor. She isn't making fun, she's just somewhat pleased at the idea of feeling useful. ]
It's one of the many things that falls under the Hoard's umbrella.

[Or for an American Sports analogy. Minors VS Majors.]
He's the lead singer of a popular music group called, Heatless Passion. When he's not, brainwashing the masses with his music? He's having them walk to their deaths in the middle of the Hudson River. Then of course there's that Preacher bloke who, fancies himself as the second coming of Christ. Spreading hate against the Shadowkind like it's his god given right to profit off an environment of hatred and fear.
[She sadly, could go on.]
I suppose, my point is. What we do here. It's so much bigger than you realize when you walk through the doors of the round table room and have your first meeting with Wynn. It's not saving people, one case at a time it's...
[She pauses a moment, Gwen trying to find a way to explain just how massive it all is when you step back and look at what's been and what could still come.]
If left unchecked this world could be ripped apart by the likes of men like them. Sarandis wanted to rule a nation and he did. Until we stopped him. Men like Blade and Draken Crombe? They want to rule the world and what keeps me awake some nights? They could. That's what we're up against. That's why every moment we spend in these walls and out in the field matters. It's not your home, not the one you know and it's not your old life either but it's the one you've got and you and me and every other person within these walls. We're what's standing between the rest of the world and men, just like them.
[As far as speeches go, that was a big one from Gwen but a pretty damn important one at that.]
I like to think I lose a little sleep at night so that others might not have to.

Wynn had told her the scale of the knights' struggle when she'd first arrived, and she hadn't doubted him, but it meant something else to hear it from a peer, hear it from someone who was so much like her.]
That's the kind of work anyone should be glad to throw themselves into, given the opportunity.
[It's too important to balk at or shy away from, though she knows not everyone is up to the task.]
I don't want you to think I'm anything less than dedicated to the cause. I might be newer by comparison, but-- pretty sure I wound up here for a reason.

[She struggles to find the right words at first, in the end deciding on some simple honesty as she leans closer.]
I went from working for a secret organization that dealt with potential alien threats that would come through rifts in space and time - [Not even giving Abbie a moment to wrap her head around that.] And then I wound up here and became a Squire. To say that I felt out of sorts is a dramatic understatement.

Sounds a lot like being part of a team that seeks out demons rising up to bring forth the apocalypse. [And then, unexpectedly, ending up here.] I'd say I know exactly how 'out of sorts' that feels.

It sure reads like that and there's no masking the smile that pulls wide across her lips, even with her attempt to hold it back. A little color in her cheeks that makes her look better for it.]
I'll have to test that some time then.
