That's terrible. [Her eyes narrow as she looks at the map, then back to him.]

What happened to the rest?

War. Famine. Disease. [He shrugs.] Everything. And Panem rose out of it, like a shining beacon. [The last part comes out sardonic with a slight curl of his lips. Yeah. Shining beacon.]

[attollores]

[She notes the heavy sarcasm dripping in his voice, looking at him askance. Curiosity gets the best of her and she can't help following the thread of questions running through her head now.]

Panem? Is that what they're callin' this now, then? [She points to North America, tapping her finger lightly on the screen.]

Just taking a wild stab in the dark that this Panem isn't exactly the "shining beacon" you've labeled it. [They both know it's a question with the way it is stated, and she is genuinely curious, but it is a leading statement as well. If he wants to answer her questions he can, but the way she puts it allows him to acknowledge her inquiry without going into detail, if he so chooses.

She just waits for his reaction, whatever it is.]

[He shrugs.] Not in as much as I can remember. [Which is just Haymitch's roundabout way of saying that this veering too close to personal information territory and he'll be steering the conversation away from that now.]

[Alainn gets the hint and changes tacks, with a Wisdom check of 18 asking a different question that had her curiosity piqued.]

So I'm curious, who from the Knights found you, and where?

[She figures that can't have too much personal information to it since it happened so recently. Hopefully.]

Oh, Wynn found me personally. [He says it sarcastically, like it's supposed to be an honor, but he can't care less.] Apparently, drunks wandering the streets talking to themselves draws a crowd. [He's not even certain of the where- that would imply context. All he knew was that he had no real memory and only two words came to mind. Capitol trap. Arenas can look like anything, so maybe he had been shouting at the sky as if unseen Gamemakers could hear him. No harm in that.

So maybe he knocked one person's teeth into their skull for touching him and startling him. No big deal.]

[This draws a smirk out of her, her brow raising slightly.] Seems we have that in common, then.

Not the drunk in public part, the being found by Wynn part. Though...I have been drunk in public before as well. [She shrugs, thinking of the night she had first met the leader of the Knights. It was at once a terrifying and thrilling memory, but not something she normally talked about though she was willing to with her Squire.]

Only way handle being in public. [That gets a snort. He's not a people person. CAN YOU TELL? But he can fake it when he has to. And if he wants answers to what's going on here, then he'll have to fake it a lot.]

So, have any questions so far about the mission? Or is now as good a time as any to stop bugging you so you can have some peace for the rest of the flight? [She says this with a smirk and a raised brow, letting him know that she really will give him his space if he wants it. She wouldn't be offended, not that she thinks he would care if she was or not, but she knows that for some people there's only so much of her that they can take.]
