The plan has been set, and the Knights are on their way to New York City once again - this time with the desperate hope fueling them that they can save two of their own, instead of simply endangering them further.  Jack and Buffy have greater stakes in this than anyone - as it is Jack's fiancee, Gar and the love of Buffy's life, Rafael, who are currently in the grip of the vile villains that have plagued them for the last four years.  Knowing fully well the risks that are inherent in potentially facing down the dangerous Mind Master, who shattered Myri's life in an instant by breaking Finnick Odair's psyche, their plan is to divide and search the warehouse as quickly as possible - knowing that every second counts, when an alerted team of bad guys could take the lives of their captured friends.  

It's an unparalleled gamble, but may be their only opportunity before Rafael and/or Gar are moved from the facility.  To that end, they converge at a nearby hotel...

Shit... Raf. [From the sound of things, the element of surprise is out the window so Rose is less concerned with remaining silent, already trying to see where that chain is secured (Spot 38).] Above the vat - can you heal him without touching him? I'm going to try and get him down.

[And then I rolled a climb check to see if maybe Rose had a hope in hell of getting up to him and Nat 20d. So. Parkour?!]

[She can...maybe. It's a math thing. See, mass cure wounds can be used at a range of 55 ft for her currently, and each person impacted can only be 30ft apart. So basically, if Rose gets closer and Myri can reach her in the 55 ft range while she and Raf are 30ft apart, she can maybe get the good healing to him?? Or if Raf is 55 ft or less away from her when she gets closer to the cat, she can just heal him directly with it. She can only judge where Rose is by the sounds of her climbing, so the timing of this may be difficult. But Myri got a 31 listen check to try to keep tabs on Rose, so maybe?? If so, 22 hp for a use of mass cure light wounds.]

[ myri is certain that she gets the timing down right, but as rose climbs up the crane that he's attached to and passes by where he's dangling, she doesn't seem to notice any of his wounds healing over...

she keeps going up towards where the rope is attached to the top bar, which she can try to walk across to get to him - it's going to take a balance check to do so. ]

[With a Balance Check of 22, Rose is going to do try and do just that, more focused on getting to Raf than she is worried about that lack of healing... (WS 25) just yet anyway.]

[ that check is more than enough to walk along it like a balance beam towards him.

unfortunately, it's not enough to stay on it when abruptly something comes whizzing through the air - a piece of heavy equipment of some kind - knocking into the entire set-up and sending the bar swinging wildly. she can attempt a reflex save of 25+ to grab the beam on her way down. otherwise, she's falling straight down into that vat.

[Welp. At least her reflexes are better than her wisdom checks, Rose's hands grabbing hold of the beam as she plummets towards the vat below. (Ref Save 30).]

I'm fine - [Said for Myri's sake as Rose looks around wildly, trying to find the source of the attack and make sure 'Raf' is still okay. (Spot 35/Listen 28.)] But we're not alone...

[Obvious statements are obvious as Rose tries to move along the beam to get clear of the vat below (IDEK what that would be?! Str 22 or Dex 24.)]

[It's just all weird sounds and a commotion from Myri's perspective. This invisibility thing is a blessing and a curse...

But hearing that Rose is alright is a small relief. It makes her extremely nervous.]

Can you get to him? I can use spells but I need to touch you both...

[Also taking a look to try to find any sign of who else may be here. (spot 36)]

[ waiting for the heavens - eighteen visions

on the other side of the room, they catch movement on a high catwalk, a pale hand brushing along the railing as a figure takes a few steps into visibility. a very familiar figure, who watches the swaying beam as rose climbs away from it, with an expression of mild disappointment.

as rose reaches the far side of the vat, abruptly there's a strange buzzing sound that issues from 'rafael' - and with a sickening noise, a massive cloud of green-black insects comes erupting out of his mouth and bursting through his flesh in a horrific display. rose is close enough, however, to realize that in the moments before he distorts and distends, there's a flash of a slightly different face where rafael's was moments ago.

and then she steps backwards, a blue portal opening up in the wall behind her, that she steps back into. ]

[And there is... legit nothing at all that Rose can do against a swarm like this so, that's fun. The most she can do right now is feel safe in the knowledge that it wasn't Raf who just exploded before her eyes and swing down to the ground where she might be better able to protect Myri (Tumble 24.)]

Get close to me... [And yeah look this might not even be the equivalent of 2 rounds for her but she's going to look for anything she can grab that might be useful in fighting this (Arc Lore 28, Spot 32).]

[ well... fire is notoriously useful against swarms of any kind, and she recognizes that these insects are not just any normal bugs - she's seen them in one of the winchester's books: they're some variation of hellwasp, which she knows have a hind mind that makes them even more deadly. holy water might be another good option if she has any of that on hand...

either way, there's definitely a flammable warning label on the side of these vats.

the swarm rushes towards her, however, an angry buzzing mass that fills the air on every side of her as they start to sting (11 dmg) she must also make a fort save vs. poison and a fort save DC 18 vs. being nauseated. if she passes, she gets her other round. ]

[ Reaching into her pocket, Rose fishes out several vials of clear liquid, hastily removing the cap on one and takes a five foot step closer so she can splash the swarm ( Ranged Touch Atk 41, DMG 6 ), repeating the process with the second vial ( Ranged Touch Atk 37, DMG 6: Heroic Surge 1/5).

Of course Rose carries Holy Water. She's dating a Winchester.]

They're Hellwasps, if you have any Holy spells, now's the time to use them. [Gritting her teeth against their sting but avoiding the nausea. (Fort Save 27).]

[Holy as in healing? Well Myri certainly doesn't want to touch the damn things... so she'll just use a mass cure wounds. Moderate level to be precise. For 30 damage.]

[ a few of the insects drop out of the swarm, but there are still hundreds left swarming around rose, who has to make the saves again as she takes 12 more damage from their relentless assault ]

[Good thing she'd have to crit fail to vom really (Fort Save 27 again). Seeing that not work as well as she'd hoped...]

Fire?! [And Rose will repeat the process from before and use up two of the three vials she has left: Atk 37, Atk 34 Dmg 6, 7. (HS 2/5)]

[She can do fire. A 10 ft column of fire to be precise. Hopefully it doesn't hit Rose?? CAN SHE SEE ROSE AT THIS POINT? They've attacked things so maybe? Anyway... Reflex 21 for half damage. 64 damage.]

[ YES ROSE IS VISIBLE NOW. and about to be super on fire. luckily so are all those bugs, who glow bright with holy fire that devours the swarm and stamps it out once and for all with some hideous high-pitched screeches.

[Just barely making that friggen Reflex Save (21 - seriously I rolled a 2), Rose feels the heat of the flames lick at her skin as she moves out of the way, remaining burn free but for the singed hair on the back of her arm. (yaaay evasion).

Laying eyes on Myri, she gives her a quick once over to make sure she's okay.]

That wasn't Raf. [In case that part... wasn't super obvious.] We need to meet up with the others and get out of here before they send any other surprises our way.

[Myri rushes to meet her, reaching a hand out to check for signs of damage from her spell. Satisfied that she's unharmed, she nods.]

You should lead. Your instincts are better. But I'll be right behind. I'll try to save my spells as best I can to help get us out once we find the others.

[Rose throws a glance in the direction she'd seen the Mindmaster disappear, a look of frustration twisting her features before she's forced to refocus on the here and now.]

Alright, just stick close.
