The plan has been set, and the Knights are on their way to New York City once again - this time with the desperate hope fueling them that they can save two of their own, instead of simply endangering them further. Jack and Buffy have greater stakes in this than anyone - as it is Jack's fiancee, Gar and the love of Buffy's life, Rafael, who are currently in the grip of the vile villains that have plagued them for the last four years. Knowing fully well the risks that are inherent in potentially facing down the dangerous Mind Master, who shattered Myri's life in an instant by breaking Finnick Odair's psyche, their plan is to divide and search the warehouse as quickly as possible - knowing that every second counts, when an alerted team of bad guys could take the lives of their captured friends.

It's an unparalleled gamble, but may be their only opportunity before Rafael and/or Gar are moved from the facility. To that end, they converge at a nearby hotel...

[ the shield whizzes through the air so rapidly that blade doesn't even see it coming, and it knocks him right in the chest. his grip on the knife, however, doesn't slacken, and gar screams out: ] GO! GET OUT OF HERE! [ and with a 21 escape artist check, she manages to tighten the fingers of one hand together and snake them out of the restraint on her wrist, clenching her teeth through the pain and casting glances up at the dagger that threatens to slice her throat at any moment ]

[ keijen's head slowly lifts back up as he glares balefully at steve ] You'll pay handsomely for that. [ a glance down makes it obvious to him that gar is no longer rendered helpless enough for him to just slit her throat in one motion, not with one hand already worked free, and his scowl widens ] Just not today.

Today, just a taste. [ he raises his other hand, and points at steve, a sickly green light striking him in the chest (touch attk 27). it all but burns a hole through the front of his uniform, and he'd feel himself being pulled apart, chunks of flesh and muscle and even bone dissolving away beneath the beam (83 dmg on his failed fort save of 25). luckily, he avoids passing out from the mere shock and pain (fort save 20 vs massive dmg), but it's a horrific sensation, as though his very body is disintegrating.

and because psions are extra broken, for an extra 6 power points, blade can manifest dimension door as a move action, so with that, he steps backwards, a rift opening up behind him that he vanishes into, sealing around him. ]

[ He was expecting payback, but at least it's not directed at Gar. That's basically the last thing other than pain that runs through Steve's mind when the beam hits him. He really can't do much. Nothing to avoid the immense pain coursing through his whole body. He doesn't pass out, but Steve doesn't stay on his feet. Not after that.

At least Gar's throat isn't slit. ]

[ even through the glass, they can hear kat's angry: ] NO!! [ as she too shakes free of the spell, raising both hands and swiping them furiously, summoning up a huge wall of flame that cuts between gar's table and where keijen just vanished, pouring heat and flames in the direction of his disappearing act, only half a second too late ]

[The spell breaks and Felicity's gun comes up again, starting to make her way closer to Gar to see if she can help - but not so fast she runs headfirst into Kat's spell. First things first, she goes to the comms:]

If anyone has eyes on Rafael, it's not him. Repeat: it's not Rafael. We have eyes on Gar.

[Then again, if this is also a trap they're really screwed but she's hoping that Gar is Gar (sense motive 22). She just can't not warn anyone else in case it is true.

Sorry, Buffy.

And IDK if she'll have enough time, but if that sense motive checks out, she'll try and pick the lock on that other chain to free Gar (disable device 37).]

[ it sure seems like gar, especially the look of gratitude she flashes her when she gets that other shackle off her wrist. ] If you don't mind... [ she nods at her legs, glancing around to look worriedly at kat up there ] I'm -- I'm perfectly alright, we just need to get out of here quickly.

[ He struggles for a moment to get onto his feet again. His hand lifts to grab the closest surface to get himself up. Everything's fine. That was super fun. Come on, guys, let's go. ]

He's here and he ran away like a little bitch, because he's scared of us! We should find him and kill him now. [ kat is a little uh... riled up, tbh, and seems to have totally failed to notice how steve is like half dead over there. ]

[That's okay, Felicity is potions lady. After taking a second to undo Gar's legs (disable device 42), she'll turn to Steve and hold out one of the Cure Moderate Wounds to him because damn that was a hard hit.

She turns back to Gar.]

I have another one if you need it. Depending on what's waiting for us out there you might need it.

[ gar swings her legs off the table, looking up at kat with a hint of actual impatience. ] That wasn't fear you saw. That was arrogance. He considers you all a waste of his time, and if anything, he's trying to lure you further into a trap. We need to get everyone out of here, so that we can find Rafael. We don't have time to argue about this. [ she glances over at steve, evidently concerned for him at least ] That spell could have killed a lesser man with ease. We're lucky that Sir Rogers is as capable as he is, but we shouldn't press our luck.

[ He's on his feet by the time Felicity hands him the potion. Steve wobbles just a bit, but he's listening to everyone. For the most part. He nods to Gar with a tired smile. ] I've always been good at getting hit. [ The potion helps with a whopping 5 points. Good times. ] Let's go. [ He'll grab his shield before they go. ]

[ kat frowns at gar's words, but offers no comment on them one way or another, turning back to the computer ] One sec. [ fingers go flying over keys again, and they'd hear the door once more unlatch and open for them ]

[Felicity nods as she lifts her gun again, before moving to head towards the door.]

Kat and I'll take point, Gar in the middle and Steve can bring up the rear.

[No offense, Steve, but you still look like crap, while she and Kat haven't taken any hits yet.]

Tell the others to retreat, if you can. [ a pause, before she asks ] Is... is Jack ...?

[ With shield finally back on his arm he nods. Not offended in the slightest about being in the back. He will try to move up to give Felicity his shield. Just for a little bit of extra padding in case things get hairy. ]

He's here, yeah. I'm sure he'll be all offended that he didn't get to swoop in and be your white Knight himself, but he's just gonna have to suck it up. C'mon.

[Felicity glances over at the shield and shakes her head, using one hand to push it back towards him. It's not that she doesn't appreciate the thought, it's just that she has no idea how to use it, and doesn't have the experience to manage both the shield and her gun at the same time. Steve should hold into it anyway - he's in pretty bad shape.

And with that she'll just start to move forward, back into the warehouse and keeping an eye out for trouble (spot 25, listen 32).]
