The plan has been set, and the Knights are on their way to New York City once again - this time with the desperate hope fueling them that they can save two of their own, instead of simply endangering them further.  Jack and Buffy have greater stakes in this than anyone - as it is Jack's fiancee, Gar and the love of Buffy's life, Rafael, who are currently in the grip of the vile villains that have plagued them for the last four years.  Knowing fully well the risks that are inherent in potentially facing down the dangerous Mind Master, who shattered Myri's life in an instant by breaking Finnick Odair's psyche, their plan is to divide and search the warehouse as quickly as possible - knowing that every second counts, when an alerted team of bad guys could take the lives of their captured friends.  

It's an unparalleled gamble, but may be their only opportunity before Rafael and/or Gar are moved from the facility.  To that end, they converge at a nearby hotel...

Maybe not, after all. [ dumage looks over her shoulder for half a moment at the sound of the mind master's voice, but then she drags her gaze back to meet spike's. there's an intensity in her eyes, as she seems to hover between drawing closer to him and stopping herself. her voice drops just barely, the words pretty deliberate. ] I told you.

Don't throw it away for just anyone.

[ the air behind the mind master splits open again, the portal hanging there as draken ducks through, not bothering to wait for this drama to end. dumage takes a single step backwards, holding spike's gaze as keijen watches very carefully. finally, he says her name once, firmly, and she moves towards them, heading through the portal. blade spares spike one large grin before ducking in himself, leaving spike alone for a moment with the mind master, who stands beside the portal smirking at him.

she tosses him a chilling wink, before stepping one foot back into it herself as it starts to seal around her. ]

[Spike takes another step forward, then stops himself (will 15). A part of him wants to rashly dive in after them. A bigger part of him isn't quite that big an idiot. He knows he can't take all of them, even if Dumage chose to be uncharacteristically selfless and sides with him. He'd be dead, and worse, trapped with mind readers. He doesn't particularly want to let them into his mind.

So he settles for balling his hands into fists and staring after them. And, of course, yelling uselessly after the portal because he thought of a comeback and he can't just not say it.]

Yeah, well! Didn't think she was your bloody type! Thought you preferred them a little more related to you!

[Yeah, that'll show him. They probably still have some sort of surveillance. He kicks a chair across the room angrily (atk 31, dmg 11) and turns to go.

Then... pauses. The bad guys are gone and Dumage wasn't wrong about this room looking promising (wis 22). He's gonna bloody search the room (search 23).]

[ the chair all but splinters against a far wall with a loud clattering sound. his initial search of the room doesn't yield much, but he discovers a false bottom in one of the desk drawers... inside of which is a switch. flipping it rotates a section of wall around, in which is a filing cabinet full of documents.

the documents are full of schematics, although it's all a bit too technical for him to make out what it's supposed to be of. there's definitely some robot nonsense in there though. ]

[At least something useful can come from this mess. Spike might not get most of this past "robot stuff", but he knows there will be people at the castle who do so he's gonna take the documents and leave the room.]

[DOWN because this mission's gone seriously south and he wants to catch his teammates if any of them need help. Or if he needs help since he lost his only back-up.]
